RE: STEEM Is Leading The Way Into The Age Of Abundance: Steemians Should Take Advantage

in #steem7 years ago

I often find myself saying, "I wish I was here a year earlier". Yet, I do recognize that there is still plenty to be taken advantage of. I made a commitment to be as active as possible on the site awhile ago and it went really well until a series of things just threw me off. My computer screen broke, I was too broke to fix it; I guess that was the big one.

But, when I finally fixed it, and was so excited mainly to be able to get back on Steemit; I didn't. And I don't really know why. Every day it was a like "do it tomorrow" type situation that never played out. I think I was a little intimidated by it; my last post got a fair amount of attention and I've been nervous to create something shitty.

Coincidentally, right after I got my shit together and got back on the site, I came across your article, and it just encouraged me more. So thank you for that.

I can't convince any of my friends to invest time into blockchain systems like Steem. I have a few friends who hold crypto but they don't really know anything about it and just kind of bought random coins that friends would tell them to. The rest of my friends are just completely uninterested and meet my crypto conversations with a smirk; like, "oh yeah? how's that going?" and every single time, "do you know anyone who's actually used the money? it's a scam, man" followed with a surprised but unimpressed reaction to the answer. It's really sad because a lot of my friends create a lot, whatever the medium might be, and are mostly very broke; so these systems are ideal platforms. But it seems impossible to overcome the FUD to most of these people.

Looking back 6 months, I was somewhat guilty of the same thing. I was interested in crypto, but I didn't know a thing about it and figured it was something you had to invest a lot of money in that would possibly collapse. I remember telling the friend that introduced me to crypto, beforehand, to take out a good chunk of his money from it in case things didn't work out. Now, I have a totally different opinion on it.

Sorry for the rant. Anyways, great article; glad to be back so I can read more of what you have to say!
