@inventor16 yesterday I was talked To my friend to promote steemit after my request he had ready to promote steemit on them channel. He was an big YouTuber they have almost 125 k+ subscribers. He always sharing thoughts upon earn money online.
that's a great idea about reaching to big youtubers. There are actually some of them already on steemit but they don't think about mentioning steemit to their followers and may need some help reaching out to people.
It's not just YouTube though, Apple is pushing tech to start blocking ads on sites. So big adsence publishers might be next.
I will follow your example and try to spread the word about steemit on youtube. I agree with you that popular people on social media sites will do better for their self and the community by bringing their content and audience to steemit.

I've seen a few posts like this recently, some with steem names being reserved for people for 'when' they arrive.

They have the funds now. They just aren't using them .

Youtube has got far too big for its boots those youtubers would be an invaluable asset to the Steemit platform
I already started uploading some of my videos to DTube, but sadly, until big players don't join, mass migration is nowhere near.
Most recently, the Life of Boris channel had some demonetization issues, but "the Slav King" didn't join here yet.
We can only wait, I guess.
The word has not only to spread, that would explain so much...
