Q&A with Reddot550

It is rare to find genuine talent in the world of hip-hop, especially on Soundcloud. It is even more rare that an artist drops his first song on Soundcloud and it is an absolute hit. You just don't see that every day. Yesterday, I was lucky enough to witness this phenomenon in the form of Reddot550.

Reddot550 dropped his first track, "Fuck Instagram", on Soundcloud yesterday and it impressed the hell out of me. The song has generated almost 1,000 plays in its first 24 hours, which in my opinion is a MAJOR success.

The talent that Reddot550 possesses is ridiculous. I really like what I heard from his first song and I cannot wait to see what he comes up with next.

I reached out to Reddot on Twitter for a Q&A and this is what he had to say!

Q. How is the hip-hop scene in Dekalb County?

Reddot550 - I'm not really from Dekalb County I'm from Broward County but I spent a lot of time in Dekalb County cause my grandma stay up there. In Dekalb we listen to Gucci Mane, 21 Savage, Young Thug, PeeWee Longway, Future and other peoples. It's really diverse and different than from what I'm used to listening to in Broward County.

Q. Your song "Fuck Instagram" is not only your first song but it's a fucking great song. What went into that track?

Reddot550 - When I made Fuck Instagram it wasn't intentional I was sellin drugs trying to make some quick money and I realized everyone in my age group were posting on Instagram while I'm tryna get a whole 28 grams off my hands 😂.

Q. You seem very motivated as an artist and as a person. What is your motivation?

Reddot550 - My motivation is all the young people coming up making their dreams come true. We got TayK, YBN Nahmir, and NBA Youngboy. Their all around my age group. In fact, NBA Youngboy exactly one day younger than me. I look at it like if he can do it I can do it too.

Q. Who are some of your influences in the world of hip-hop?

Reddot550 - No one really influences me. I keep an open ear for different music but I'm still Reddot. I have a whole list of favorite artists, but they don't necessarily influence me.

Q. Finally, is there anything that YOU want people to know about yourself?

Reddot550 - I want people to know like even though I rap about violence and selling drugs I'm still a regular nigga. I'm not going to wake up like "Let's kill a nigga for no reason" I like peace. And everything I say in my songs is not to try to be cool or savage it's for the people that can relate.
