Ideas for how to sell my book for STEEM?
I just finished the first draft of my new book, and I'd love to experiment with offering pre-orders only through STEEM.
(The idea is as much to make a statement and promote STEEM as it is to be purely practical.)
Is there a reasonable way to do this? It's not like Gumroad or PayPal accept STEEM. Would love to hear ideas.
Might consider putting the first 10 pages on steemit as a teaser leading up to the sale. 10 posts each containing one page. Those postings seem to garner an avid following
I think that's a great idea! I'd love even more to offer it exclusively for STEEM for a period. I think it would make a great story for STEEM, kind of like when James Altucher offered his book exclusively for Bitcoin for awhile.
We don't yet have Direct Messaging built into the platform exactly, but you CAN use the Transfer dialog with Memo in the Wallet, to send someone some STEEM, then include your email address to send a copy of the book to.

I would recommend allowing folks to download it on torrents, rather than hosting it on a central server. You can give them a password for a zip file, for example, and a torrent magnet link.
I would actually suggest you publish the book for Upvotes and Pay What You Can donations in STEEM, and see if you don't do better than publishing to AMZ, etc.
Post the chapters on Steemit. I've done that with several books of mine, and it can be very lucrative.
For a preorder you could set a price and then in the memo have people write their email address and the words preorder. You then email them to get their shipping address.
Great idea! I hadn't considered that you could do a simple transfer like that.

I think it's an amazing idea! Is it Getting Art Done?
About the logistics, I think one of the devs will have an idea... I'll try to ask around see if someone has an idea.
Aside from that it will be awesome if you published a few pages or chapters here :)
Yep, GAD. And yes, I think I probably will post a chapter or two here on Steemit.
I've been posting one of my books right here.
Does coinpayments accept steem yet? (I can't remember off the top of my head) If they do, then you could set up a site with wordpress, woocommerce and coinpayments plugin pretty quickly.
I am looking forward to the Audible version of the book.
As far as pre-orders go, we have plenty of good devs here on Steem, I'm sure someone will be willing to hack together a pre-order app to keep track of people that paid, and what their email is.
That would be pretty darn cool! Any developers who would be willing to help, please let me know.
And yes, I do hope to create an Audible version. Thanks for the encouragement, @furion!
all of this isn't necessary and I wouldnt recommend going down that route. If it is truly an informational resource and not a disney tale about the beginning of steem, it's more useful and more accessible in ebook format. more specifically kindle or kindle unlimited.
Edit: I believe I misunderstood and thought it was a book about STEEMIT

3 billion people on amazon.................................
I am an Amazon FBA, Merch, Associates seller. oh, and I'm a digital marketer. Depending on what your goals and expectations are we can talk the best approach if you're interested.
I will be selling it on Amazon. That's easy. I'm just thinking this as an initial pre-order "stunt" that would get press for STEEM, and the book.
Would love to purchase your book using STEEM!
Do it on iTunes:)
Does iTunes accept STEEM? That would be big news to me!
Oooops:) I think no:)
