Where are the facts?
Where are the experiments and results?
Where are the measurements?
Where are the photos?

They supply nothing real to support their argument, that can't be debunked by a 14 year old.
All it says is that science is all about control by the church.
But that ignores history. The church and science are not good friends.

It ignores the fact that ancient peoples knew the earth was round.
And yet they supply nothing of substance to support their argument.

Come on! Give me something I can't explain away kn give minutes. Give me real proof. Don't just say NASA photoshoped images of the earth. NASA wasn't around in ancient Greece, or during the reign of the Incas and they both calculated the circumference of the earth.

Ball is in their court... ;-)

This was doing well............
and then they said - "and we've backed this up with scripture"

true science doesn't need scripture to back it up. the mere fact that they have gone to the bible for scientific backing completely renders their argument as bogus.

I refuse to believe in religious doctrine (and it is just the christian doctrine that is used ) as a basis for examining the natural world.

A book that is a bunch of cobbled together stories written by a bunch of blokes that wrote stuff down 300 years after it happened is not a sound basis for explaining the universe. Sorry.

Fascinating how saying "one thing" can create the reason and justification to null and void every other thing said.

It's like picking an angle to slant a perspective on that is limitted in the fact that the whole of the topic is not considered.

Youve supported me to see deeper into the whole of Debating and putting forth Arguments. Whats interestings here is how we take one point...angle...slant....and blow up the examination on that point...and sort of gloss over that which would be more interesting in discussion.

Like for instance: gyroscopes and accellerometers.

What is your perspective on the questions asked and the experiments conducted?

Well my problem with the video was partly that they said: we've done experiments, we've put up balloons and rockets. but there is no scientific method, discussion, review. It's just we know the truth, trust us.

I find the reasoning for the earth being flat to be incomprehensible.
The earth is flat because it is suggested as being so in the bible. And NASA ans the scientific community is trying to discredit God by saying the earth is round.

The whole reason for the Flat Earth movement is a means of proving a religion.

That's trying to change the facts to fit their fantasy. And they are doing it in the same way that they are complaining about the scientists doing it.

It wold be cool if the earth was flat, and there were continents to explore beyond Antarctica. But wishing it was true does not make it true.

Yes I stopped listening / watching wen they said their studies were backed up by scripture. Up until that point i was interested in their experiments. enough that if they hadn't tried throwing the bible at me, i would have hunted down their experiments to find out what they did.

But I'm not interested in being preached at by a religion I don't subscribe to.

i get you, i don't particularly fancy biblical references either.

I did however find fascinating the research with gyroscopes and accelerometers.

What i find interesting is that the modern day mainstream science is kind of touted like religion....maybe just a bit of irony...

cheers, thanks for taking the time to share your perspective.

Best regards.

Steem On!

Ok I tried watching the rest of it.
But......... using comments on forums like Stack Overflow (which is an excellent forum) as the basis for your argument is just not scientific.

Using comments taken out of context and then saying there that proves it, when it proves nothing, doesn't work for me.

I also have a huge problem with the religion of science. That science is always right, has the only truth and everyone else is wrong.

There is a lot that science cannot (yet) explain. But real scientists never claim to have all the answers. Ask anyone in the business of science and they will tell you that every answer just leads to more questions.

Religion is the only sphere that says it has all the answers, and you shouldn't question.

I'm not anti-religion really. You are welcome to believe what you want and I won't mock you for it.

What annoys with the Flat Earth argument is that it tries to use science to prove a religion. And that's just wrong. ;-)

well...you 'tried'...Your resistance comes across as strong.

Agreed about the 'religion' of science.

I don't give this stuff much attention....but i like the questions brought forth...which is cool.....which really kind of opens up bigger questions...like what do we really know for sure?
