Do bots damage the Steam ecosystem?
Now bots are prevailing in steem community. Unfortunately. It hurts system and slow down development of qualitative content. Bots are absolutely legal in the system, any restrictions applied. Not difficult to find them on Bot Trackers.
I see following pros and cons:
Pros:
- Bots attract investments into system by providing possibilities to get passive income
Cons:
- Bots get lion share of rewards
- Authors are unhappy. They should work many times more than bots to get the same income
- Authors can increase rewards of posts by paying to bots. It is not fair play
In conclusion – system should stimulate creation of quality content. That is one of the key values of steem community.
What do you think on steem policy in regards to bots?
This is not the first time Steem is under bot attack. This time these are promo bots. There are several consensus changes, that can reduce profitability of such practices, including increasing share of curation rewards.

The reason bots collect the money is specifically because authors pay to bots to receive upvotes. Really do authors make profit by doing so. But they still do it to get better visibility for their posts in hopes to engage real readers.
It's the fastest way to be on a peak of the trending posts. Really, it's the answer how you become popular and how you get tons of followers, isn't it?
