RE: How steemit can shut down its "competition" with some small modifications
Really all you need to get is a distributed filesystem, which has many other uses, and not just bittorrent, something that transparently lets you mount a filesystem branch that pulls torrent from a peer to peer file storage system. Add in onion routing for transaction posting and hidden services on a DHT for file download queries, and bam! Just run the filesystem app, plug in the url with the DFS containing the relevant scripts, and voila.
I think it would help a lot if there was a caching node also for the steemit blockchain, and again, OR queries and posts, have it maintain the current chain and expire content that the user does not use as it ages.
This: https://steemit.com/agorism/@l0k1/agora-a-local-centric-distributed-compartmental-corporate-infrastructure describes a system that operates partly with a similar framework, and in the article I discuss an agorist, surveillance resistant business system.
Obviously Agora is where it will all eventually converge.
I appreciate very much and was pleased to see that my streemian curation leaders already put me onto this article, and that you also, like me, are opposed to any form of copyright system.
Oh, and, one more thing, I think it's more a case of not so much 'competition' but convergence. Build bridges that link all the crypto-islands together, make the interface irrelevant, and not geographically bound.
Great post I need time to process all of that though :P
But you should know steemian is glitching right now and burning through voting power, I just removed my operator to try and stop the effects for my followers see https://steemit.com/psa/@ausbitbank/psa-streemian-is-glitching-right-now-upvoting-old-content-crazy-fast
