RE: How Do We Prevent Steemit Spamming?

in #steem8 years ago

Patience is the key for me. I know the feeling of finding something new and exciting like this and you want to tell the world... You quickly turn into 'that dude' that everyone wants to avoid!

Two things to remember, (1) Steemit is an experiment and (2) no author or curator has yet to see a payout. On the flip side there are very few people willing to invest time or energy into anything that is less than a sure thing. Hence why early adopters get most of the spoils and also bear most of the risk. The only people I'm sharing Steemit with at the moment are those that I know will 'get it'.

In my view, the easiest way to "sell" Steemit to the masses is through it's "success stories." If in a few months, you're able to say to your friend, "my job sucks... do you know I earned more money last month blogging than I did from my 9 to 5?" You won't even have to tell them about Steemit, they will be asking you! Wanting to know your secret... etc. etc! Once a critical mass is on board, the rest will follow simply because 'it's the place to be.'

Social media is social. Most people typically join because someone they know (or have heard of) is on there. Not because a stranger sold it to them.

That's true! Most people don't realize this is legit yet. Why would they? Unless they know the team and the technology they can't really be sure it will work. That's a powerful thing that a lot of us early adopters have. Some of us know and trust the people who built this thing, some may recognize the technology or might be very intelligent seeing it all right away, and some may just have a good intuition about the whole project. Other than those ways it basically comes down to trust and hope until 4th July. But after that - if the experiment works! - there will be a massive amount of success stories, from people all over the world, from all walks of life, all kinds of worldviews and hobbies. That's a great prospect for sure!

You've got in a nutshell Nanzo, I am the same, I've held back on Facebook, although I posted my guest post on my FB page for my website. But yeah, July the 5th and a few of my friends will hopefully hearing from me about Steem.

True! I'm a tester and I blindly believe in new technology and humanity. I've announced this to people but once July 5 rolls around people will flock and sign up without even thinking.
