Delegated self voting.
Well steem I've given in on self voting. It's a pretty modest 20c per post aquired through delegating on the first of Partiko's fundraising rounds.
I've always been extremely community driven in my voting, and have been rather disgusted with the self voting in all of it's forms on the platform. Self voting can take the extreme of 100% your allocation of the network purse pointed back to yourself. The "rewards pool" is created through inflation on the steem token. This is considered a lawful right, as it is allowed by the system. However "flagging" is meant to be the cultural judgement tool, is a counter towards behavior which is toxic towards the voting economic system. The problem here is flagging is in a weakened position compared to voting. This can be seen in the @berniesanders epilogue.
What's the problem here?
Those that are self voting most selfishly will only be gaining in position in the system. As voting power is entirely tied to stake, this will always be a game in the steem system as it is.
This left me rather hopeless about steem for sometime. The only remedy is to explore the power of self voting. Make it more visible. Is it worth anything? It definitely makes the front page weighted by vote unusable. But in a business sense, like partiko, delegated self voting has become a way to incubate users on it's platform, and a second layer page ranking can be developed.
The truth is it has become a nice way to incentivise writing for myself. Its clear almost no one is reading it, but at least it's a way to practice written communication. Can this ever work in the face of self voting whales? If you can surpass their negative force through generating good content other users find valuable then maybe so.
