Twisted love.
Chapter 1
It was 3am and she was still awake. She turned to the other side of her bed. It was empty. The one who was supposed to lay there wasn't there. He wasn't even back from his supposed office and he had not called her. She was awake waiting to receive him yet there was no hope of him coming back. She stood up gently and walked out of the bedroom, took a left turn and headed for the kids room. She opened the door gently and went inside. She switched on the bed side lamp and looked at her children who were lain on a double bunk bed. Two beautiful girls. The first layed down bunk and the second up bunk. She adjusted their blankets and kissed them one after the other. She left their room for hers. He was still not back.
She switched on the data connection in her phone and a messaged popped up. It was Peterson. The guy she met at the mall two weeks ago. They had exchanged numbers after he had paid for her groceries. He was tall, light skinned and had a decent hair cut. His cologne had sent chills down her spine. She was crushing on him no doubt. He was better off than her useless husband. He had been such a wonderful person during courtship and until the birth of her second daughter, Nadia. He had changed all of a sudden. She didn't know his reasons. She was still very beautiful and active in bed. She was a great cook. She was a career woman who still had time to carter for her home. He had become hostile in the last three months. Started keeping late nights. Stopped eating her food and stopped giving money for the upkeep of she and the children. At first, she thought it was a delay in the payment of his salary not until she saw his pay slip for the month in the dustbin. She cried her heart out. She couldn't bear it again. And just when she thought all men were the same, Peterson walked into her life. She was snapped out of her memory by the vibration of her phone. It was another message from Peterson. Think of the Devil, she thought. The first was wishing her a happy new month. She had even forgotten that it was the beginning of a new month-her birth month. Seventeen days left she remembered. The second was inviting her for lunch at their favorite restaurant. She smiled widely. She sent him a reply accepting his invitation.
It was 5am already. She went to the children's room again, this time for morning prayers. She woke them up gently.
"Good morning mummy" Nadia greeted as she jumped down from her bed.
"Good morning mum" Nadine greeted
"Morning my girls. Hope you slept well?" she said as she touched Nadia's hair and Nadine's hand.
"Yes mummy. I dreamt of you buying me a big bowl of strawberry ice cream" Nadia said smiling
"You know I'll get that for you when you are back from school. But first, let's thank God for a new day" she said and the trio knelt down. Nadine led in praise and worship and then Nadia read the Bible. She explained the passage to them. They prayed together for a while and then she left them to prepare for school.
She had her bath and got dressed in a black skirt,a black camisole, and a blue flower patterned jacket. Wore her make up and perfume. Got her keys and handbag and walked downstairs. The girls were already having breakfast. She joined them at the table.
As they left the house for the car. The gate was opened by the gateman and a blue murano Jeep drove in.
"Daddy is back" Nadia said and ran towards the car.
She walked to her car and settled in.Waiting for the children to finish with their father.
"Girls could you please hurry. I'm running late already" she shouted out to them.
The kids ran to her car with their father following behind. They hopped in and buckled their seat belts. She ignited her engine. By this time her husband was leaning beside her window.
"Can't you at least say good morning? " He asked her
"Good morning" she said and wound up her window. Then she reversed the car and drove out
