RE: A few thoughts on the future of Steem
I definitely feel as if things are getting back to normal after the fork. People seem to be more active on Hive, and that is kind of fine, as long as people on Steem can keep on working like they want to.
When it comes to downvoting, I agree with you. I don't like it, and I haven't downvoted a single post in my life yet. But, something like CHeetah and other tools to actually punish spammers, those stealing content and so would be good... But, using the downvote function as a way of saying that I don't agree with you, is stupid!
The problem is not the downvotes themselves, the problem is mass abuse. Check out this account and all of its "friends". This is not normal and must be stopped. https://steemworld.org/@camillesteemer
Yeah, I get the point... I have received quite a lot of downvotes from that account and similar accounts myself, but seeing that they don't have value, I haven't cared. But, I do get that it might be depressing and make newcomers who don't really get it feel bad!
It's the tactic of little pinpricks. (so we call it in German) It doesn't bother us, but others who only have 100 SP or less will not feel comfortable if they receive unjustified downvotes. Attention should also be paid to ethics and etiquette here.
