I'm glad that you decided to give away SP instead of the others because it's more valuable.

I'm glad you think so. I have high hopes for the future of Steem and Steemit, so I prefer to give away something that has a long-term value, and it is much better if the winner uses it to increase their voting instead of just cashing out in my opinion.

Also, I tried for the first time to use the steemstem tag since it is science related and I cited all of my pictures. Is there anything else that I need to do? This is the first post I've spent the time hunt down the picture information.

I don't know if there's anything else you need to do. I think you should be fine if you use legal pictures and cite your sources, but I'm not affiliated to @steemstem, so I cannot really tell if your post is eligible for an upvote or not.
