The Final Stage of my SteemIt PlansteemCreated with Sketch.

I believe that the best way to play the SteemIt game is for users to wait for dips and to buy a sufficient pile of steem so that their upvote had clout. One should then start sluffing off the interest from the investment.

Yesterday, I bought my account into dolphinhood. One needs 10 million vests to become a dolphin. Currently, this happens at a little over 6,000 STEEM POWER.

With my investment in place, it is now time to start powering down my earnings.

Please note. I power up 100% of my author rewards. My hope is that my staked author rewards will increase my curation rewards ... which I will power down.

I like using SteemWorld by @steemchiller to track my rewards. The page shows my realize earnings for the previous week and can calculate earnings for the upcoming week.

SteemWorld shows that the base value of my upvote is 0.071 SP. If I vote 70 times a week, then my base upvote earns 4.97 SP. Of course, the actual value of one's upvote depends on voting order.

It turns out that one's curation rewards vary depending on voting style.

The first problem is that one needs to upvote after the 5 minute mark. This is difficult since Hive.blog rounds the time. It shows 5 minutes at 4:30 minutes. Bots are better at measuring time than humans; so the voting formula transfers steem from humans to bots.

The most important factor in valuing an upvote value is voting order.

If I manage to frontrun whales (vote before the whales); then my reward is substantially larger than 5 SP. When I upvote after the whales, my upvote is worth substantially less than 5.

It is an extremely absurd way to calculate upvote rewards.

The biggest problem is that bots are better at harvesting rewards than humans. Bots get the cream of the crop and humans get the sloppy seconds.

How Much Should I Power Down?

My weekly upvote should be somewhere between 5 and 10 SP a week.

So, I decided to start by powering down 5 STEEM a week. The current price of STEEM is $0.773. So 5 STEEM a week is about $0.39 USD.

I am really hoping that I will earn more than 5 STEEM a week.

In this last month, I purchased about 5000 STEEM for about $480.

At 5 STEEM a week, it will take 1000 weeks to pay back my purchases. That is about 19 years.

Will I withdraw more than invested before steemit finally shutters its doors.

I was really hoping that the mathematics of steem would be better than this.

Lets face it, curating on steem is truly a marginal business. I suspect that most of the curators are steem in in the red.

My Approach to BLURT and HIVE.

I am playing similar games on HIVE and BLURT. The table shows my

SymbolTokensper Weekin USD
STEEM6,1655$0.39
BLURT20,32316$0.02
HIVE6,52210$1.11
Total$1.52$1.52

I also have about $500 in coins on Hive-Engine. I really have no idea how much I am making on HE.

Conclusion

Anyway, I've achieved all of my goals on the SteemIt/HIVE platform.

I still think that the best way to play the steemit game is to buy about $500 coins. Players win if they get their investment back. Since STEEM is a closed loop, I fear that there will be more losers than winners.

I have a hard time selling people on this idea because SteemIt is a closed loop. Because we are not really creating a product, must people will end up putting more in than they take out.
