Dear Steemians,
In response to contest by @max-pro SLC28-W6 | Worldwide Travel Explorer I visited Bhainsali Bus Stand in Meerut which used to be one of the main bus stations of UP State but will soon be history. As you can see most of its buildings have been scrapped and it will soon be transferred to two locations out of the city. Interestingly one of them is closer to me in Pallavpuram on Delhi-Dehradun Highway.
Which Transport Hub or Station have you visited? Give brief information.
Today, I visited all the way to Bhainsali Bus Stand in Meerut which serves as a major Roadways Transport Corporation hub.It's located in the heart of the city on Delhi Road, handling over 400 buses every day.
This bus stand operates primarily for routes to Delhi and nearby areas but since the Metro Station is built right beneath this location most of its buildings have been scrapped. However it still operates as a key hub for intercity travel but faces congestion issues leading to relocation plans.
What facilities and services are available there? How is the management, cleanliness and ticket system? (Show photos + video)
- Routes and Operations
It connects to Delhi hundreds of daily services, Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, and local spots like Baraut and private operators like InterCity Smart Bus. Private and roadways buses dominate state and interstate routes.

- Facilities and Services
State transport is under semi-government control so it runs smoothly providing frequent services to different places and to different states from early morning until late night. Toilet and parking facilities on paid basis.
- Fare
UPSTC employs a per-kilometer fare structure for its buses, with ordinary (non-AC) buses typically charged at around ₹1.30 per km (0.25 Steem) while AC buses carry a premium of 50-100% higher. Fares adjust periodically due to fuel costs and tolls, with minor hikes.
Ordinary Bus Fares
Non-AC ordinary Minimum fares around ₹10-20 (1.5-3 Steem)
₹150-₹475 (25-75 Steem) for 100-300 km routes. AC Bus Fares
AC variants like Shatabdi and Volvo charge higher rates
₹250-₹650 (40-110 Steem) for 100-300 km routes.

What impressed you the most about this transport hub?
As I said earlier this place is having a metro station so the authorities have a plan for its relocation that impresses me the most. It will transform a congested urban hub into efficient outlying depots integrated with Metro and rapid train stations (RRTC).

This will provide a congestion relief as shifting 400+ daily busy city road eliminates chronic traffic jams will improve flow for locals and reducing pollution from heavy operations. I feel most impressed that one part of this bus stand will be nearer to my current situation which is almost 10 km from this place.

You will laugh if I tell you that I saw in the Bus Stand, a cheeky group of monkeys sauntered fearlessly along electric wires overhead. Like other passengers I took my phones out, as the agile creatures balanced precariously, tails flicking, and almost mocking the passengers as one of them snatched snacks from the hands of a passenger.

Conclusion
To be frank visiting Bhainsali Bus Stand felt chaotic yet vibrant to me. Actually so much crowds surging toward buses amid honking and local vendors makes the place feel like a mess. The highlight was spotting monkeys nimbly traversing electric wires overhead, adding a wild twist to my experience though and then the info that part of it will be shifted near to my place.
The stand is on Delhi Road - National Highway 119 near Begum Bagh, Meerut - 250001.

This one has lost all its glory and left like a ghost of its past but it used to be a major transport center of this major city. It still runs 400 buses a day despite its shifting process and taken over with modern facilities underground.
