SLC27-W5 | A One-Day Street Journalist:The Struggle Of Street Hawkers.
Assalamu Alaikum/Adab my friend of Steem4Entrepreneurs community, I am @kibreay001 speaking from Bangladesh
Assalamu Alaikum all my Steemit friends, I hope you are all doing well with your prayers and the infinite mercy of Allah Almighty. A few days ago, @max-pro Bhai organized a competition in the newspaper that I am going to share with you today. As a one-day journalist, I am going to discuss with you as much as I can about the struggle of street vendors in our city and the story of their life struggle. In fact, those of us who live in the city can see the struggle of different types of street vendors in the alleys or on the sidewalks or near the railway station. I have also tried to share with you a little about the lives of the shops with which the street vendors have started their life struggle and a little about their business, but let's share today's proposal with you..........
01What places did you visit and what types of hawker businesses did you review?
To take pictures for the competition post, I basically went to meet the footpath vendors in our market and there they were selling clothes for both boys and girls on the footpath or in small shops. I met them and came to discuss it in detail with you. In fact, when I met the vendors, I felt really bad when I heard their stories of life struggle from their mouths. They come to the footpath every morning and sell different types of clothes to every person and this is how they earn their livelihood. In fact, their life struggle story is different from our life, so I think it is the duty and responsibility of each of us to respect, honor and sympathize with them. There, you can see all the traders sitting on the footpath with small shops on the side of the road. The vendors are selling different types of things on the footpath. These are basically the small scale businesses of the vendors on the side of the road.

The story of the life struggle of the street vendors who were selling clothes to children is different. They always come in the morning and open the street vendors' shops and in this way they sell and buy in the shops all day and in the evening they buy rice and return home to give two handfuls of rice to everyone. On the days when the vendors do not sell, they fail to feed their parents, brothers and sisters and children at home. On the day I went to meet the vendors, the sales of the vendors were a little less than other days. You can see that everyone is sitting or lying down in the shops, very upset. In this way, I did my job as a one-day journalist to bring to you the story of the life struggle of the vendors and the story of their business life.
02Have you ever bought anything from these stores? Show pictures + videos and show their prices.
On the sidewalks by the side of the road, the street vendors were running their businesses very nicely and they were selling different types of clothes there. Clothes for everyone from small to big were available there. If you look closely, you can see that there are many street vendors selling their daily necessities and from there, the buyers were buying different types of things from them. The day I went to understand the life story of the street vendors, I bought a pair of pants and a T-shirt from there. In fact, they are constantly struggling with life, starting from running a household by working as a street vendor and ending up with a lot of hardship. The price of each product there is very low compared to the garment shops, so I myself prefer to buy things from the sidewalks or street vendors.

I have beautifully captured the life and struggle of the street vendors who were selling clothes from children to adults on the sidewalks and shared them with you through video. If you watch the video from beginning to end, you will understand that many street vendors are constantly selling various kinds of things on their stalls, including boys' shirts, T-shirts, shirts, pants, and many other things that are part of everyone's daily necessities. In fact, I felt very bad that they were selling all the things by pulling polythene over their stalls during the rainy season. These are very difficult because if rainwater falls on them or if there is a lightning strike, they are likely to suffer a lot of damage, but they are still doing business on their stalls just to feed their children at home. It makes my heart cry when I see the hardships of the street vendors.
03How do they face sidewalk occupation, eviction or police harassment?
The street vendors who sell various things from their street stalls are victims of sidewalk demolition or police harassment at various times because at different times when government-funded road works are being done, their sidewalk stalls are demolished and after a few days when the police conduct investigations on the street stalls, they are forced to leave their shops and flee because these are not their legitimate shops, they rely on their livelihoods by selling their street stalls on the sidewalks not only for their livelihood but also for their livelihood. But the Bangladesh police force there was aware of their work but they kept the stalls there by taking some bribes from them. In fact, it felt very bad to me because they are very helpless and earn some money by selling their things on the sidewalks only to build the future of their families and the lives of their children and young children. But even there, the fact that Bangladesh government officials are taking bribes like this is really very bad to me. I hope that the street vendors will improve one day in the future while selling their things on the sidewalks.
04What are their biggest challenges and hopes for continuing this business?
They are doing hawking business with all these shops on the side of the road. Their biggest challenge here is facing the police force because they are constantly doing business by bribing the police force with some money. I think if they had not done such things and misused them, they would have improved from this kind of business and in the future they would have arranged to leave the places and get a shop on their own. So the police force has become a thorn in their path now and this is where the biggest challenge is the hawking business. And when the city corporation builds sidewalks on the side of the road for road work and road cleaning, their businesses are greatly affected because they have to demolish the businesses on the side of the road and move to another place. This is their biggest challenge. However, I believe that they will improve from the hawking business in the future by ignoring all the challenges and continuing the struggle for life and in this way they will come forward one day on a small scale.
The hawkers always hope that one day they will improve from the ferry business and establish a bigger business in the future and that their children will do better. However, in some cases their hope turns into disappointment, such as when the City Corporation does drain or road work on the side of the road and when the police force demolishes their businesses from the side of the road, so I think that the businesses they always keep in hope for our society and the things they sell for a small amount on the ferry, I think that the common people benefit a lot from here. So I talked to the hawkers and got to know the stories of their life struggles and I tried to present everything to you as a one-day journalist. I hope you all like today's post. Thank you and congratulations to all of you.
