My Neighborhood Watch #143 - Reporting Events Around us

The noise of working machines and the scratches of gravel moving from the ground to the metal bowl that was been used to carry them into the mixing machine where the sand and gravel plus cement and water meet to make the concrete mixture has been the order of the day since morning.

This unpleasant music has so much permeated the atmosphere that you would literally hear it from where ever you are as long as you live within the vicinity. For me that my room is at the other end of the facility, I hear the noise from the quiet confines of my room and I cant help but draw close to see what all the commotion is about.

First it was the noisy disturbance that came from the tipper when it came to dump the gravel. It made so much noise that I couldn’t help but peep through the window of the common room where I was sitted eating when the whole tipping drama was happening.

The tipping it self was another batch of chaos as the dust of the gravel filled the entire atmosphere. Entering into all the rooms and hallways of our lodge. The dust filled everywhere that I was forced to leave the common room back to my room.

The gravel and sand where tipped just on the main road that two third of the road was covered with gravel leaving only a small fraction for cars and people to move through. Ofcourse there was no way that would have sufficed as the cars had to climb part of the gravel top to make their way as expected. Pedestrians also have their own fair share of the gravel walk as it’s also in our way.

Well, with the excess noise and distractions, I had to share the recent happening with us. So the building next to ours is under construction. A sight worthy of beholding as the construction is going on with full force. They are decking the building. The men carrying the mixed concrete are pouring it on the deck.

They climb through a wooden step construction to the top of the deck and then pour the gravel on the top while some other persons used wooden sticks to smoothen it out. They have been on with this since morning and they are almost done. As of when they started off in the morning, they were just at the initial stage of the decking but now they are almost done.

Such a show of hard work. Meanwhile I was wondering how much manual laborers get to earn for a day work. They used to much energy and I know that’s something I can’t even come to think of doing.

I can imagine the unpleasant noise from such a construction site. From your narration, dumping those gravels and other building materials on the main roads has been the order in most parts of the country. Lawlessness has grown rampant, leaving the lawful to their own fate. Thank you for sharing your neighborhood report.

Well said sir, that’s some of the menace we have to endure. Thank you for stopping by🌝
