Hello to everyone in the Steem4Nigeria community. I am pleased to participate in this week’s My Neighborhood Watch contest by recounting an event that took place nearby, highlighting the daily struggles that many families in my area are currently experiencing.

My Neighborhood Watch #136 – Reporting Events Around Us
Today was particularly another frustrating day at due Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Registration Office due to the ongoing registration process. Early this morning, I took my younger sister out with hopes of finally completing her registration. The atmosphere at the registration site was already charged, with students, parents, and guardians all displaying signs of worry and anxiety. The main issue we faced was network problems, which impacted nearly everyone there.

One of the most disheartening moments was attempting to obtain her JAMB profile code by sending her NIN via SMS through the network. Each message cost ₦50, and it was disheartening to see that messages could go through without any acknowledgment as long as there was airtime. I kept trying, thinking the next attempt might succeed, but soon I had spent over ₦500 on texts without any results. Frustration filled the air as many applicants shared the same plight, with sighs, murmurs, and heated discussions surrounding us.

As the hours passed, my sister grew weary and hungry, her frustration becoming apparent. The crowd swelled, the heat was stifling, and no progress was made. At that point, I decided it was best to take her home. We agreed to try again another day, hoping for better conditions.
In The Afternoon: At Our Biggest Market

Terrible Traffic at the market area | Stocked in the Traffic |
Later in the afternoon, we visited our biggest market, which was bustling due to it being the main market day. The scene was chaotic, with heavy traffic as motorists, vendors, and shoppers all tried to navigate the roads. Street vendors crowded the lanes, contributing to the high noise level. We quickly grabbed the essentials to avoid being caught in the crowd and traffic for too long. Afterward, I took her home with her books.

By evening, I returned home, freshened up, had dinner, and finally took a moment to relax. It was a long and taxing day, but it exemplifies the daily challenges that many people in my neighborhood face while fulfilling essential responsibilities.
