Hustle After School
Today after I closed from school, I decided to take a walk to the newly developed area in my community. I wasn't just walking for nothing, I was looking for somewhere I could do a small job and earn something for myself, because I know things are not easy these days and any little money counts.
When I got there, I saw some people mixing cement and sand with granite, getting the ground ready to pour into a place that had just been excavated, so that the bricklayers could start laying blocks once it dries up well.
I stood there for a moment watching how they were working, then I didn't think twice again, I just walked up to them and asked if I could join. They said yes, so I rolled up my sleeve and started helping out immediately.
Even though I came late, because by the time I got there they had already started the work, I still met something to do. I helped mix the cement, carried granite to where they needed it, fetched water when it was needed, and just did whatever I could to assist them.
The work was not easy at all, my hands were paining me and my back too, especially from bending down and lifting things up and down. But I kept going because I knew it will pay off at the end, and I didn't want to disappoint myself after coming all that way.
By the time we finished, I was really tired and sweating all over, but I felt happy with myself because I was still able to make some money even though I joined late. It showed me that as long as you are willing to work, it's never too late to benefit from something, no matter how small the job looks like.
Honestly it was a tiring day, my whole body was aching when I got home, but I'm grateful, because hard work always pays off one way or the other. I learnt that you should never be too proud to do menial work, because money made through honest labour is always worth it in the end.
