INTEGRITY
In our daily interactions with others, a time comes when we look up to people we could depend on or at least, share some aspects of our lives with. Most of the times, the people we would like to share about us are those we hold in high regards. The reason for holding such persons in high esteem could be because of their strong character they possess.
Occasions would often arise when people with various strong character traits would be needed to handle certain issues that comes up. These people through their various life engagements, have a testament good track records. By the strength of their character, they are now able to win people's trust. When such people are found, they would be regarded as what I call ‘persons with integrity’(PWI).
What it mean to be "true to myself"
Being true to myself could be such a time when I would be faced with the challenge of not pretending, Presenting issues or cases just the way they are without prejudice, saying what I can do and doing what I said.
It would be needless of me to say more than I am or do more than I can't. Infact to cap it, staying true to myself means I can't fake myself in words or actions.
Why it iis important for people to keep their promises
Integrity, integrity, integrity!!! This is what our world needs to get healed. Doing what we promised is also an aspect of integrity that we should not undermine. For instance in politics, leaders make a whole lot of promises during their campaign period. When they succeeded in winning the hearts of the electorates in voting them in the position they are vying for, they quickly forget the lots of promises they made. The result of this is that people would not trust such kind of politicians or vote for them again.
It is important for people to keep their promises because it brings trust, respect, love, and rewards in every form one can think of.
The difference between being honest and being nice
The difference between honesty and being nice is that honesty is anchored on integrity. You can choose to be nice to someone and choose not to be nice to others. But when it comes to being honest, you stand firm to uphold what is just and fair not minding who is involved.
Being honest is more hard than being a nice person. The question of being honest comes in difficult times, while one may just be nice for a moment. Anyone known to have integrity is honest, but not every nice person could be honest
If my friend asked me to lie for them to get out of trouble, I would not tell the lies but I would not abandon my friend .
I would not just abandon my friend because he or she is in trouble. Butt at the same time, I have to protect my integrity. I would study the matter and investigate to know the truth. If after the findings reveal that he or she deserves to be in trouble, I would acknowledge his or her wrong doing and plead for mercy or pardon on his or her behalf.
In doing this, I have shown that I stood by my friend and not allowing the situation to take me to the part of dishonor.
