So I decided to try a new recipe with noodles. Normally, I do cook my noodles with the ingredients inside the noodles pack, but I decided to add a different spice to it, which is Ginger. I've not eaten noodles that are fried and cooked with ginger before. I had to try this in a friend's place, and it turned out perfect.

Ingredients

The following ingredients were used in the preparation of my fried gingered noodles.

  • Noodles

  • 4 Eggs

  • A tube of ginger

  • A bulb of onion

  • Three pieces of pepper

  • Groundnut oil

  • Bread

These are the ingredients I added to my noodles to make them have a better taste than using the normal method or the parboiling method. I had to challenge my friend in cooking noodles, and to be honest, one came out well while the other didn't. Let me spill the gist.

Method of preparation

To prepare gingered fried noodles, you must be very careful with heat and the first stage of boiling. You must also be careful with water; if not, you'll mess up the whole process. So how did I create this recipe?

  • The first step was to prepare my ingredients and keep them on standby. You can prepare them while cooking; otherwise you'll waste time or you'll ruin your noodles because of rushing to fill the pot with its rightful ingredients. I made sure my pepper was well ground and that my onion was sliced into big sizes, as frying will actually reduce the size.

  • I ground my ginger and whisked my egg inside a bowl. I add a pinch of salt, ground pepper and half a cube of Maggi to make it taste good. I then whisked it again and kept it aside for the frying stage. After that, I contained my pot with a jug of water, and the jug wasn't a big jug.

  • After steaming for some time, I had to break my noodles into small pieces because I don't like eating them straight like spaghetti unless I'm using a fork to eat the food. I then allowed it to steam for 4 minutes before removing it from the heat. I filtered the water out of the noodles in a sieve and focused on the frying aspect. Why I allowed it for 4 minutes is because I didn't want it to be too soft. Fried noodles don't need the boiling aspect to be so soft that people begin swallowing them instead of eating them.

  • I then added my groundnut oil in measurements and allowed it to steam before adding my sliced onions, pepper and ginger. After they had steamed well in the oil, I added a few drops of oil and added my whisked egg. I then mixed the egg to scatter it with a stirrer. After that was done, I allowed it for some time before adding a few drops of oil into the pot and the noodles themselves, which I filtered with a sieve.

  • I mixed the noodles with the ingredients and allowed for some minutes before adding a few drops of water. After 3 minutes, my noodles were ready. The aroma filled the whole air, and I was satisfied that I achieved something. The aroma of the ginger was strong enough to fill the whole kitchen. It was a successful feat.
  • I then boiled 3 eggs and waited for 10 minutes for the eggs to boil. I then peeled it and added it to my noodles with bread for sampling. And that was how I prepared my fried noodles with ginger fillings. It tasted great.

The Battle of Noodles

After the cooking process, my friend and I decided to showcase what we cooked. He used a different cooking method of parboiling and then using water to cook the ingredients while I fried mine. His own came out soft, white and tasty, while mine came out moderate, edible and colourful with a great taste.

How do you prepare your noodles? Between these two, which do you think will taste better?
