SLC-S31/W2-“Creative Interpretation| The Phrase (Almost There)”
Almost There
The trail didn't seem that steep from below.
"Hard work pays off."
That might be comforting.. Lets be real. He still had a way to go. Not even close to reaching the top. That shiny flag on the horizon seemed impossible to reach. Only the fit could achieve that.
He. Put his hands on his knees. The city lights below twinkled and pulsed. They seemed vibrant and distant. What he had already done seemed small compared to what lay
" there" he said to himself.
Almost" is a weird place to be. It's not success. It is not failure. Doubts start to creep in. The effort feels pointless. "Almost" is where people give up. Not because they can't do it.. Because they're tired of waiting.
He kept walking.
To me I find this both hopeful and frustrating. The word "Almost" makes you think you will get there soon.. And it doesn't. You are stuck in a place where doubtsre big and progress feels slow. It's where people quit. And not because they can't do it.. But because they are exhausted.
And the key word "almost" teaches you to keep going. It teaches you to be patient as well. Finishing something when it seems like the goal is moving away is not about being confident. It's about being tough. Being "almost there" means you've achieved something.. You don't feel done.
I see this in my goals. Like when I'm studying for a test.. Planning an event. I work hard. I expect a finish line.. Instead. And I feel like I'm just hovering. Working without seeing results.
Thats been my experience. There were times when I saw progress.. I didn't feel like I deserved praise. I was still far, from my goal. I didn't feel satisfied.
This photo seems to show that. Not a big achievement.. The journey. The quiet struggle to keep going. When it feels hard.. The horizon seems too far. Because to be honest "almost there" doesn't mean you're not ready. Sometimes it means that you're closer than you think.
Thanks for reading my post I'm inviting @bela90,
