Choose a global or local problem (education, waste, traffic congestion, unemployment, loneliness, etc.) Propose a simple and realistic solution that doesn't rely on advanced technology.

A global problem that I believe is still significantly disrupting people's lives today is garbage. Even near where I live, garbage is still strewn everywhere. Many people consistently litter, making some areas slum-like. This is due to the lack of waste disposal facilities in villages and on the outskirts of cities, while public waste disposal sites are far from accessible.

Some public places, such as roadsides and rivers, have even become dumping grounds. In response to this phenomenon, I would like to offer an interesting suggestion for how we as a society can manage our waste effectively.

After carefully analyzing the piles of garbage on the sides of the roads, I can categorize the waste into two types: household waste and business waste. The solution to this waste problem is actually quite simple.

For people who produce household waste, they need to provide trash bins at home. The collected waste can then be disposed of in government-provided landfills. They can also hire garbage collectors to collect their waste from their homes and then dispose of it in government-provided landfills. This is the solution commonly used by people in our area.

Furthermore, for business owners with large amounts of waste, they must form agreements with other business owners to pool their funds and hire people to collect the waste from their businesses and transport it to government-provided landfills.

Because government-provided garbage collectors are sometimes unable to reach businesses in many remote villages, the final solution for people to avoid dumping waste in public places is to burn their own waste and build mini-landfills behind their homes. This way, the waste is immediately removed, but this method is not ideal as it can pollute the environment.

Who benefits most from this solution?

The people who benefit most from the solution I proposed above are the people themselves. They can live in a waste-free environment. And if residents and businesses are willing to hire people to pick up their trash, then previously unemployed people can also find work.

This means that my solution can also create new jobs for the community, and people can live comfortably because they are free from waste. I believe this is the best solution at this time, as it is a problem I see firsthand in society.

In your opinion, what challenges or limitations might your idea face?

Behind the solution I proposed above, there are some challenges or limitations that could arise. One challenge is that people are reluctant to hire people to collect trash at their homes and businesses. Various reasons arise from this. For example, some cannot afford to pay collectors due to limited income. Some choose to burn their own trash at home rather than hire someone else to collect it, as this solution is considered more economical.

This is my entry for SLC-S29/W2-“Thinking and Ideas!| Simple Solutions to Big Problems!” which is organized by my sister @ninapenda, I also want to invite @dekki, Mr. @yuswadinisam and also Mr. @miftahulrizky to participate together in this contest.

Hi @ikwal, welcome to thinking and ideas week 2

My Observations:

You have made a good suggestion but what of those traveling by road or those in their private vehicles? How do you get then to control waste because I feel these are the major challenge.

People who drive land vehicles rarely litter, so I don't think it's a problem, because people who travel on the road will usually throw their trash in the right place when they stop at a rest area.
