I invite you to the @ninapenda mam SLC-S28/W3-Local Taste, Global Twist!| “Healthy Local Cuisine Challenge!” competition. In this competition, we will learn to play with local tastes, reimagine food, and have fun with familiar dishes. I am very excited to participate in the competition. Without further ado, let’s get to the point where we will give local tastes a global twist and take on a healthy food challenge.
• Tells us about the dish you choose to make healthier and show preparation steps.
My chosen dish to make healthy is Chicken Momos. I have previously made Chicken Momos by steaming them, this time I will add different flavors to make that dish healthier. Below are the ingredients I added to make the dish healthier and the preparations I followed.

Step 1:
- To make chicken momos, first you need to make the dough, for this I took 1 cup of flour in a mixing bowl. I added a little salt and 1 tablespoon of oil to the flour. Then I mixed it with normal water and stirred it very well to make the dough. Once the dough was made, I put it aside and kept it aside for some time.

Step 2:
- To make minced chicken, I took 400 grams of boneless chicken meat. I washed the meat well and drained the water. Now I will make minced chicken with the chicken meat in a blender jar.

Step 3:
- To marinate the minced meat, I added chopped onion, chopped green chilli, ginger paste, garlic paste, soy sauce, chilli powder, salt. Then I mixed all the ingredients with a spatula. Now the chicken filling is ready to make chicken momos.

Step 4:
- At this stage, I made bread from the flour dough, then cut it into small pieces with the help of a cookie cutter. I made chicken momos with one teaspoon of chicken filling. I made all the chicken momos in the same way.

Step 5:
- Once all the momos were made, I put a pan on the stove. Instead of oil, I added a little water to the pan and stirred in the chopped garlic, chopped onion, and chopped tomato until soft. When everything was soft, I added four cups of water. Then I added 1 cup of tomato sauce and stirred to mix everything.

- After mixing the ingredients well with water, I added salt and chili powder. Stir everything again and cook for 5 minutes. After adding the chicken momos, it cannot be cooked for long, so it must be cooked well beforehand. To thicken the soup, I mixed 2 teaspoons of cornflour in normal cold water and added it to the mixture in the pot. Mix everything well again and cook for 1 minute.

Step 6:
- When the soup thickens, I put the chicken momos in the soup. After putting all the momos in the soup, I stirred it once to mix it. Then I cooked the chicken momos with the soup for five minutes. Now I will remove it from the stove and serve it hot. The chicken momos soup tastes great.

• What ingredients or cooking methods did you change?
Chicken Momos is a popular dish that everyone loves. I have made some changes to make this dish more delicious and healthy. Chicken Momos are usually made with minced chicken and then steamed in a steamer and served with sauce. But here I have cooked the chicken momos with soup to make them more delicious and healthy, which is very delicious to eat. Also, I have not used oil to fry the ingredients used in the chicken momos soup recipe, I have softened them by stirring them with water. I have given a new twist to the chicken momos recipe which is very great.
• How did the new version affect the flavor and feel of the meal?
The new version has made a huge impact on the taste and feel of the food. Hot soup and steamed chicken momos are everyone's favorite dishes. When the flavors of the two dishes are enjoyed together, it lifts the mood. The texture and taste of the new dish is unmatched, the spicy and delicious chicken momos soup has made an immediate impact and everyone in my house has enjoyed its taste. I hope the new version will make a positive impact on everyone.
• Why do you think people should try this healthier version?
Chicken Momo Soup is a healthy dish because the chicken used here provides our body with protein and the soup keeps the body hydrated, boosts immunity, helps in weight loss and aids in digestion. This healthy version is rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber which is a great nutritious breakfast food that provides the body with the necessary nutrients. There are mixed versions of the dish like, Chicken Momo helps in filling the stomach and the soup being liquid prevents the body from dehydration, keeps the body hydrated. It fills the stomach easily and prevents overeating, is digested quickly and helps in keeping the intestines healthy. So I think people need to try this healthy version.

When I added the tomato ketchup it looked a bit oily but I didn't add oil separately. 🙂
