An Act of Kindness I will Never Forget

Hi friends welcome to my blog. I saw this contest topic and decided to hop in on this contest. Contests like this help us keep track of every good experience we have had in our lives from those who have shown us love and kindness and this includes strangers we do not even know from Adam. Let's get right into this business of the day.

What was the act of kindness you experienced or witnessed?

Well I experienced mine and it still feels fresh just like yesterday. It was at the time when I was preparing for my wedding, this was the moment it dawned on me that a lot goes into the planning no matter how small you want it to be. There are actually "small-looking" weddings that are actually big in terms of finance...lols.

Anyways, my wedding was an eye opener, I was putting a lot of stuffs in place, my family was also doing their part but you know, there are some expenses you must sort yourself, you can't shift that to people at all. There are some you do not open your mouth to say you've not gotten as it makes you look like a joke, it makes you appear like you're not even ready to have a family.

I was busy tying loose ends until it dawned on me that some of the very important things like my wedding suit has not been sorted. Anyways, there was still time but was there enough money to get it at the time? No! I was just hoping that I would get it sorted before the very week of our wedding.

One evening, while I was at church after our departmental prep, a very close brother of mine in church just called me and asked how far, have I gotten this and that, I told him the pressing need at hand, interestingly another brother of mine in church was also planning to get married a week before mine and we were together sharing our experience so far.

This close brother of mine then offered to get both of us a complete suit. I was shocked, this was a budget close to 200k for both suits taken care of just like that. He called someone he knew who makes suit to come take our measurements that evening so the work can start. Everything happened so fast and the relief was heavenly. I could now focus and channel my energy into something else, since this was settled.

How did it affect you emotionally, mentally, financially, or spiritually?

It had a wholistic impact on me, emotionally and mentally, I was relieved and alive, it was as though a heavy load was was taken off my shoulders. I still had other needs to take care of but this was a major one because I was supposed to appear in it on that day, every other prep is supposed to be behind the scenes... definitely not the wedding suit.

Financially , it saved me a lot of money, close to a hundred thousand which was then channeled into other stuff needed for the planning. Spiritually, it dawned on me that God indeed answers prayer and he works in ways we never know or imagined, who would have actually thought, the suit would be coming from him. This experience helped me trust God more.

Did this experience inspire you to be kinder to others? Explain.

Of course yes! Don't forget I mentioned that my wedding was an eye opener for me. The planning opened my eyes to so many things. I now see weddings differently, whether big or small, a lot goes into it whether we know it or not and the people involved would smile like all is actually well and set when in the real sense, there is still a lot to be done.

I was all smiling and cool all the while, I wasn't even sure who I could walk up to to discuss a thing or two, because I know everyone has a need they wanted to sort, meeting them would be like adding to their burden. But somehow, they kept showing up to fix one thing or the other. That's God working for me behind the scenes.

I then made a resolve after my successful wedding that I will ever be supportive to anyone around me who wants to tie the knot they do not need to meet me before I know that I owe them my support, no matter how small because at that moment they need it like the oxygen we breathe. It's a lesson I learnt from that phase and it will always remain with me.

Thank you for your time friends, I hope you learnt a thing or two from my entry. Feel free to share your thoughts with me in the comments section. Gracias!
