Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 120: What I Will Do Differently This Year

Hello steemians Friends and happy new year. I trust we all are doing well and are glad to be a part of this new year. Basically I am excited to be here and to start again. So happy new year everyone.

Well, concerning this contest, we are used to following sequence when it comes to answering questions. How about we doing it differently this time around. Like going from the bottom up. After all, we are in a new year. Do you remember the saying that new year, new things. Let’s do something new today.

How do you feel about the new year, generally.

Excited. That’s how I feel. A lot of people who saw the year 2025 are not alive to see this new year. And being that I was favored to be a part of the many people who saw 2026, is enough reason to be excited and grateful for 2026. I am glad that I am alive and despite the various challenges that 2025 came with, I am still here and strong by the grace of God.

2025 was a lot to deal it. It had its good times and bad times. There were times of ups and downs. There were times when good things happened and we rejoiced with our friends and loved ones and there was time when bad happened and we still thanked God but above all, when there is life, there is hope. So I am not just excited, I am hopeful. Hopeful for a better year. Hopeful for something bigger and more opportunities to grow.

Were there things you felt you didn't do well in the previous year and how did it affect you?

Every new year is a new season to sit down and think about our previous year. The things we didn’t do well in previous year and the areas we can adjust to do better. That’s what will make our year more successful than the last one. One of the areas I didn’t do well last year is in the area of my blogging experience on steemit. I didn’t put in my best effort in trying to make the most out of my experience on the platform after my introduction into the platform and it affected my writing passion.

I have always loved to write and express myself and this platform has helped me a lot. Well because of my inconsistency, I couldn’t make much out of it in the area of my steem power building and also helping me out financially. I needed money and if I was more consistent, I would have made more and also increase my stake.

Last year, I spent alot of time watching movies, Korean movies especially and it wasn’t a good thing. Though it’s for entertainment but it’s also a time waster. The time I would use to maybe blog and read, I use it to watch movies. The movies help me relax though because sometimes I come back and I am tired after work but it made me not to be very productive in other areas outside of work.

What were the limiting factors or the cause of the poor outcome? Do you know better now?

Well, I know better now. They said that when you know the cause of a thing, then finding the solution is very easy. One of the things that limited my blogging experience is lack of data. The house where I stay with my uncle has Wi-Fi which I used mostly at home but anytime I go to work, I don’t usually have data to be able to blog and when I come back home, I am very tired but Now, I’ve decided on better ways to help me.

I would have to try and do extra subscription for myself so that sometimes when I am free from work, I can use that time to also blog instead of waiting till when I get home and I am tired. I would also have to cut down on my movie time and put effort into developing myself and giving more time to other things.

Is there a need for you to do those things again better this year or you now consider them irrelevant.

There is always a need for improvement and doing things better if we want to achieve more results. There is a saying that it’s only a mad man that does the same things over and over and expects a different result. If I want to have a better 2026, I would definitely have to do better. Doing the same things and not changing towards the better would mean that my year may look like the one that just passed. So it’s not irrelevant to make changes where necessary.

It requires determination and dedication in my part. To decide that those things which I did last year that limited me such as procrastination, laziness, too much movies, not reading, sleeping too much and etc should be worked on or limited so that my 2026 would be better. What is worth doing is worth doing well. I am excited for 2026 and I trust God that I will do better than last year by planning and God’s grace.
