Identify one everyday problem in your community or country and explain some steps in solving them.

A daily, very common but deeply affecting problem in our country and community is littering and lack of proper waste management. We all see this problem. On the street, in the market, at the bus stand, and sometimes even around the house. Dirt accumulates day after day, clogs drains, stinks, and even a little rain during monsoons causes waterlogging. It has direct impact on human health, environment and daily life. The basic reality of this problem is that we want a clean environment, but we don't want to take responsibility for creating that environment. Many people think that cleaning garbage is only the job of city corporation or municipality. But in reality, despite having dustbins in certain places, people do not use them. As a result, the problem worsens.

The first and most important step in solving this problem is a mental change. People need to understand that cleanliness is not only the responsibility of the authorities but also the personal responsibility of every citizen. It is important to develop cleanliness habits in families and educational institutions from childhood. If children learn from childhood that garbage cannot be thrown anywhere, then this problem will be reduced in the future. Secondly, proper waste management system needs to be developed. Eg – Adequate dustbins in each area, regular garbage collection and segregation of waste (organic and inorganic). This will reduce environmental pollution and enable the use of recyclable waste.

Thirdly, awareness activities can be initiated at the community level. When local mosques, schools, social organizations and youth societies work together, people become aware quickly. Sometimes cleanliness drives or discussion meetings can create a sense of responsibility in people. The solution to this problem is not possible in a day. But if individuals, society and authorities work together, gradually a clear,It is possible to create a healthy and beautiful environment. Although the problem is very common, its solution can greatly improve the quality of our daily life.

Why do you think this problem still exists despite many people noticing it?

This is the main reason why this problem still exists today. We see the problem, but we don't take it as our responsibility. Almost everyone knows that it is not right to throw garbage everywhere, if the environment is dirty, health risks increase. However, in reality, the awareness is not reflected in the behavior. People often think, "What if one falls" or "I don't care about anything". This negligent mindset is what perpetuates the problem. Another major factor is the shift of responsibility. Many people think that maintaining cleanliness is only the job of the municipality or city corporation. As a result, they do not care about their role as citizens. Although the authorities are limited, this problem cannot be solved by any organization alone without citizen participation. Also, our society still lacks adequate awareness and enforcement of disciplinary measures. Although there are rules, in many cases they are not followed effectively. As a result, people are not afraid of breaking the rules. And old habits persist.

In your opinion, what is the most misunderstood part of this problem?

In my opinion, the most misunderstood part of this problem is seeing it as a small and temporary problem. Many people think that a little dirt on the road is no big deal, or that if it is not clean today, it will be fine tomorrow. But in reality, this seemingly "small" issue gradually becomes the cause of major health risks, environmental pollution and loss of quality of life.Another big misunderstanding is that the responsibility of this problem lies only with the government or the city corporation. People forget that problems start with personal behavior. When a person throws out the dirt in his house, it is no longer private. It becomes a problem for the whole society. Many do not want to understand or do not care about this matter.

Besides, many people think that this problem is limited to people who are uneducated or lack awareness. But the reality is that educated and conscious people often make the same mistake. This idea hides the problem, because everyone thinks "It's not my problem." One of the biggest misconceptions is that cleanliness only means keeping the outside clean. But cleanliness is actually a mental and social practice. As long as we don't change our inner sense of responsibility, the outer clear-Cleanliness will also not be sustainable.

If you could change one mindset related to this issue, what would it be?

If I could change one mindset associated with this problem, it would be the idea that "cleaning is someone else's responsibility, not mine."We often want a clean environment, but don't think about our role in creating that environment. If this mentality can be changed, the root of many problems will weaken itself. If every person thinks that it is my responsibility to keep clean where I live, where I walk, then no one should be forced to separate.
This mindset change doesn't just mean not littering. Instead of making others aware of the need, teaching children rightly and setting an example with their own behavior. When a person is responsible himself, the people around him are also gradually affected. The important thing is that no big initiative is needed for this mental change. A small decision “I will start on my own”. This decision is a neat,It can be the biggest step towards building a healthy and conscious society.
