The funeral programme and my tribute to Mama

Morning

‎It was an amazing morning. Though I slept late due to the vigil night that was conducted on the day before the funeral. However I wasn't bothered about sleeping late because I was waiting for the D day, when will lay grandma to rest.

Mama's grave

‎Before I even woke other people who were supposed to cook for the visitors had already woken up. They were in the kitchen busying with cooking.

Women cooking in the kitchen

‎It was so exciting. Went out to greet them. After I was done greeting them I now headed to the frontage of the house to watch the event decorators do

Decorators working

‎After watching them I later back to the kitchen to take my breakfast. There was plenty of foods. I decided to take fufu and Afang soup.

‎Later my Mum and her sister went to the mortuary or morgue to bring back her corpse for the funeral rites.

Family, brass band and pallbearers bringing back the casket

‎I really love how the brought grandma home. There was a brass band attached to accompany them back home. As usual the undertakers had a very beautiful display of different stunts with the casket. I was scared of their display. It was too extreme.

‎After a while Mama was kept in a room for laying in state. Though people couldn't see her because it was already too late for the funeral rites to begin. She was brought outside for the burial activities to start.

Afternoon

‎I left the scene, went back into the house to take my bath and get dressed for the funeral.
‎All these while I'm around my elder sibling Ephraim Inyang. We went to the house took our bath, then got dressed and went outside for the burial.

At the event

‎When I went out it was not easy, I had to go around greeting visitors who came to support my mother. I couldn't even go around greeting everyone. I didn't even know some of them. As we later sat down for the women fellowship of the Methodist church where momma was a full member to perform their funeral rites. They took the casket and marched around the compound then they later dropped it back to its place.

I and my elder sibling

‎The preacher started preaching. I left the scene, went back into the house to rest. After about the preaching Mama was taken to the grave and buried successfully.

‎The reception was held there after the funeral.
‎People were attended to with different cuisine of our different home made meals.

Evening.

‎After the whole ceremony was over, everyone left to their different destinations.

‎Then traditional event took place. Women danced and we had a masquerade too. The live band played to entertain those who were still around to have fun with music and alcohol.

‎Honestly speaking I really miss my grandma. I know I can't remember in detail everything that really happened there. However that's all I could recall and I decided to share it with you all here.
