To Be Honest

‎Hello my fellow steemians welcome to my blog. Happy new year. I hope everyone is doing well. I'm here to drop my contribution to this wonderful contest. I also want to use this medium to thank @sahmie for organizing this contest. Let's get to hear my opinion and contribution to this contest.

Do you agree that being honest is costly? Has it ever caused some e.g pain or regret?

‎Honesty is quite costly. However, that doesn't mean we shouldn't be honest in our doings on our daily life. Honesty has never been bad to me. I have never regret any act of honesty. Instead I have gained a lot of trust and friendship with being honest. As an artist and entrepreneur I don't joke with my brand name. Every time I'm given a job to do I try as much as I can to stay true to my client. No matter who they are I try to keep to my words. This has made them trust me. I have never regret any act of honesty and will not change. I will keep making them rely on me and trust me the more.

Can you be honest without hurting people's feelings?

‎I don't think there's anyway one can be honest without hurting. However, it depends on the person you're dealing with. Some people want to hear the truth even when it hurts while some people want you to sugar-coat the truth just to make them happy. So it literally depends on who you're dealing with. As for me I prefer hurting anyone with the truth than lying and pretending.

Have you ever told a lie to protect someone?

‎I can't lie about this question. I have lied a couple of times just to save someone.
‎It all started from childhood when our parents are back from work and are very tired that they need rest badly. They will be like "Tempest if anyone comes asking about me just tell them that I'm not around."
‎Second, is my elder sibling who will tell me to lie to my parents about his whereabout when he wants go somewhere different from the one he told my parents. That's how I knew that one can lie to protect the interest of someone else.

Is it okay to keep a secret if it could hurt someone?

‎Yes. Except you don't care about that person. I believe we have all tell a lie to someone we love just so we won't hurt their emotions. If it's about secret I think we're all guilty. I myself would keep as much secret as I can just to avoid damaging my relationship with someone who's very important to me. Most times it's hard spill it out when you know you value your friendship or relationship. Keeping secret is not bad to me.

‎But I'm not saying that it is good to do so. Just that the value of being honest at all time is very important. W should stick to what is good and shun immoral lifestyle.
