Why do you think women and mothers are more celebrated globally than men?
I think women, especially mothers, are more celebrated globally because of their visible and emotional roles in society. This begins with giving birth to nurturing families, their contributions are so deeply personal and universally relatable. Mother's Day event highlights sacrifice, care, and unconditional love, qualities that are culturally strongly associated with women.
Normally, many women faced a lot of inequality, but global celebrations, such as Mother's Day, have become a way to recognize the achievements, value, and progress of mothers. On the other hand, men are often socially expected to be the provider and remain emotionally reserved. Their contributions are significant to their family and are most often seen as a duty and responsibility, rather than something to be openly celebrated.
Have you seen any peculiar celebration done in honour of the men in your country? If yes share with us.
Yes, I have seen in Nigeria which is Father's Day celebration that is observed, where fathers are appreciated for their roles in providing, protecting, and guiding families. Father's Day is not usually as loud as Mother's Day, and also in my community men are also honored during cultural festivals or family gatherings, most especially when they achieve a chieftaincy title or any leadership positions.
Are you satisfied with men not being celebrated globally and do you think men should be included? Give your reasons
No I am not satisfied with the fact that men are not being celebrated globally. It is entirely not fair to me. Men play a very vital role in our society as fathers, brothers, supporters, and leaders. Their sacrifices, in terms of pressure to provide, and responsibility which often go unnoticed.
Men should also be included and celebrated more globally and not to compete with women, and also there should be a balance. Recognising men can also encourage them to do more.
