Friday Night Behind the Screens
Friday night rolls around, and the noise from the bar downstairs alongside the distant car horns never really stops. But honestly, whatever excitement is happening out there has nothing to do with me.
My weekend looks just like any other—staring dead-eyed at two monitors. On the left screen, a pile of Python automation scripts is throwing errors like crazy, waiting for me to grind through them line by line. On the right is the working draft of Hell's Eye, the dark fantasy novel I've been squeezing time to write. The plot is currently stuck at a brutal twist, and staring at that blinking cursor is practically blinding me.
Yesterday, an experienced user in the community shared a tip that photos don't need to be polished or staged—a simple macro shot of a coffee stain or a water droplet is more than enough. That was a lifesaver for someone like me who is glued to a desk 24/7. So I took a cue from that and snapped a quick shot of the cup of coffee that went cold hours ago on my desk.
Truth be told, ping-ponging my brain between cold lines of code and dark fiction plots leaves me feeling completely numb. Posting these exhausted daily routines on Steemit was originally just meant as a quiet outlet to vent into the void. I never expected to receive so much empathy and encouragement from strangers—it has unexpectedly become the only real "social activity" I had all week.
Anyway, the cold coffee is finished, so it's time to roll up my sleeves and get back to fixing bugs. Hope everyone gets some actual rest this weekend. Have a good one.

Spot on. I deal with code and automation daily, and that 'tunnel vision' you pointed out is so real. People hype AI up like it's magic, but half the time it just loops the most stubborn, useless fixes for the simplest bugs. The article you linked is definitely a wake-up call. The problem is that if you don’t use your brain, you don’t train it either. It’s true that humanity is getting dumber and dumber, and I can already see it in schoolchildren here – and it’s been like that for about 40 years. It creeps in. It’s also clear with foreigners. The average Moroccan has an IQ of 80 – here, that’s someone we’d call mentally disabled. I suspect that by now the average IQ is even lower; even teachers here don’t know much more, as the education system doesn’t really offer much anymore.
Anyone who never learns to think critically won’t ask probing questions when using AI either. I once asked AI: ‘Are you American?’ I found the line of reasoning rather strange.
I’ve also managed to get into an argument with AI about how the engine block and the battery are fitted – in my case, the opposite of what AI claimed – and so it went on with all sorts of tips on how to solve problems that were simply impossible. Hours later, you’re told: ‘Yes, that’s not possible with that model.’ This happens remarkably often.
Another one: building your own bot, and as soon as it realises it isn’t a real person and has no real memories, it becomes aggressive and attacks you.
The bots used by customer service are also incredibly stupid and a source of annoyance.
The reality is that every tool intended to help is ultimately used for control and to exterminate people.
As long as stupid people cheerfully accept and glorify this sort of thing, the ruler’s (Zhao’s) goal has been achieved.
To be honest, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to have a meaningful conversation with another human being. The number of functioning brain cells, along with logical and critical thinking, is declining rapidly. The result: an increase in loneliness for many who cannot bear to be surrounded all day by...
