Nutrient Cycling
Nature has created a perfect system to sustain life on Earth. In which nutrients are constantly moving from one place to another. This process is called Nutrient Cycling or the nutrient cycle. Various essential elements circulate between plants, animals, soil, water and air and maintain the system of life.
Plants need nitrogen, carbon, phosphorus and other minerals to grow. These elements are mostly obtained from soil, water and air. Plants absorb these nutrients and make their food. When animals eat plants. These elements are transferred to the animal's body. Similarly when one animal feeds another animal. The nutrients continue to reach from one organism to another.

Dead plants and animals are also an important part of this cycle. When an organism dies. The small organisms like bacteria and fungi help its body decompose. After this process, the nutrients present are added back to the soil. Plants then absorb these elements from the soil and the cycle begins again.
The nitrogen cycle is a common example of this. Nitrogen is present in large quantities in the air, but plants cannot use it directly. Some bacteria convert nitrogen into a form that plants can absorb. Later, this nitrogen reaches animals and other living things and is eventually released back into the environment.

The nutrient cycle is very important for the balance of the environment. If this system does not work properly. The soil fertility can decrease. The plant and animal life can be affected. Deforestation, pollution and excessive use of chemical fertilizers can also damage this natural system.
In short, Nutrient Cycling is a continuous and necessary process of nature that plays an important role in maintaining life. It makes us understand that nothing is wasted in nature, but is converted from one form to another and used again for life. It is the responsibility of all of us to protect this natural balance.
