I rose earlier than the sun as I always do, and was lying down among the warm feathers of the rest, on the wooden bench. It was a cold day and the farm was silent but I was already conscious about the day I was going to get. There is a rhythm in life in this farm and we chickens know something about it.

Then in another moment it was possible to hear the footsteps of the farmer in the yard. The golden light was an enticement and the door of the coop opened. Out scrambled we, Rattling and clacking to greet the day. You can call it disorder but at least to me, it is freedom in the short term at least.

The earth was smelling its stuff with wealth. Several grain sized seeds, and crawling insects, the crumbs of the grain that the farmer throws his hand. and I dug at the mud, and was glad at all discoveries. In other cases too, I even dream that I am a massive adventurer who is finding buried treasures beneath the ground.

Farming involves more than eating and wandering. It never lacks the threat menace. One eye on the sky, where hawks can be spied, and on the fence another, where something strange will come to annoy. We are not careless, we may appear insignificant.

It is noon and the sun is smoking, the farm is alive. The cows were plodding along slowly and the goats snarling at nothing and we chicken folks gossiping in our own style. I own one of mine, in my flock. We do not tell it but we all need each other.

I tend to ask myself what is behind the fence. What lies past the trees? Where wilt goest thou domicile, henne? But I am healthy once again that the farmer brings new food and sweet voice.

We turn round to the coop in the evening one after the other. The world is black, the heaven is dumb. I creep back to my bed and am fatigued and jovial. Today is tomorrow and it will never be just the same.

and here is my life, simple, vigilant, full of minor things acquired. And in my own way, it is enough.

Thanks for reading my post I'm inviting @ninapenda, @pea07 and @aviral123 to participate.

You made rally a beautiful and interesting post. Reading this made me feel the small details of farm life. Getting up before the sun in the morning, looking for grain, being wary of hazards and heading back to the coop in the evening. This story teaches us how much happiness lies in simplicity and small pleasures. You have really described the daily life of the farm so beautifully that it was a pleasure to read.
