SLC-S31/W5-“Creative Interpretation| The Emotion -“Jealousy”
Once upon a time in a small village, there were two friends, one of whom was loved by everyone that got the other friend jealous of her. Cynthia is by everyone and whenever she and Mary go out she would be noticed and admired by people which Mary wouldn't be.
Any time Cynthia and Mary are walking together people would stop and admire her beauty and even when Mary would try to make herself known to people, she wouldn't be noticed. People naturally love Cynthia not just for her beauty but for her blog heart.
One morning as both Cynthia and Mary were going to school someone stopped and offered Cynthia a ride which she refused, and asked her friend Mary to follow her. From that moment when Mary noticed good things often come to Cynthia she her jealousy whispered.
Mary visited a native doctor and was given a charm so people would stop seeing her beauty and the good side of her. The love and like for Cynthia disappear due to what Mary did to her out of jealousy.
Present jealousy from an unusual or unexpected angle.
Jealousy happens as a result of anger towards another the success of another person, happiness, or beauty. In my painting, I presented jealousy from an unusual angle not as a loud monster, but as a silent shadow sitting beside an innocent beautiful girl.
The girl is seen holding flowers inside a bottle and her jealousy sees a friend looking at her because she has locked her. in I make use of just a pencil with gray colors to show quiet sadness and emotional distance.
What triggers this emotion in your piece?
The trigger of jealousy in my artwork is beauty and the fear of being forgotten. Mary feels invisible as people keep noticing and admiring Cynthia. The bottle represents damaged self-worth because jealousy often starts when people begin to compare themselves with others. The shadow symbolises the negative thoughts whispering that they are not good enough.
Does your interpretation show jealousy as destructive, protective, or transformative?
My interpretation show jealousy as destructive and transformative. It is destructive because it slowly isolates Cynthia emotionally and fills her heart with insecurity. Also it is transformative because Mary later realises that self-acceptance is more important than comparison. The poor drawing teaches that jealousy can either consume a person or become a lesson that leads to emotional growth and understanding.
