Remember that farming means more than food

I like walking around my flat and whenever I do that I feel thankful to those who make the pillars keeping my roof above me. I know most people see agriculture as something that puts food on their plates, but the real scope of farming is much wider and involves all basic parts of human life.

In my opinion which might be seen as subjective but I think it's objective, agriculture is the source of our life, and it helps us find the needed things to keep ourselves alive, safe and healthy. Looking at that common oak table I see a lot in neighbors' homes, I see the importance of proper use of land resources. Wood is one of the main things used by us for our lifestyle. It gives people the poles and roofing that protect people from rain. And real wood in a car is a symbol of luxury.

The link between soil use and building is an important point, which some forget to look at well. All cabinets and shelves and even wardrobes were first nothing more than seeds planted in the field or wood lot. We depend on the farming process and planting of certain products lets us have the roof over our heads and a comfortable place to rest and work. It is about the connection to nature and we all need to appreciate that wood products, being part of our houses, come from the trees that lived for many years.

Wood is a very nice material. Its grain and natural qualities allow making many products that will become part of the house. Compared to metal or plastic, wood looks alive, and it is really amazing that there is such an industry producing not only food but also materials needed for housing. To be honest, I try to avoid the metal culinary set for health reasons. I'd prefer pieces of wood found in my stomach from the utensil used to cook than pieces of metal.

We should understand that farmers build the base of our comfort. If there were no proper use of trees, we would just lack the needed products to turn a building into a house.
