DC Park, Chittagong

Hello friends, I hope you are all well. For the 5th week of the Steemit Challenge contest, I will be sharing my experience and a review of my visit to the DC Park. I would like to thank the organizers of this challenge, and without further delay, I am starting my participation.

District Commissioner Park

The park is named DC Park because it is fully managed by the District Commissioner. Before 2022, a Chinese restaurant named Shuktara was located here. Later, the area came under the government treasury, and the Commissioner of our Sitakunda Upazila decided to establish an entertainment park on this land.

Since 2022, a massive Flower Festival featuring countless varieties of flowers has been organized here every year from December to January. Visitors travel from far distances to enjoy the unique features of this park. Currently, development work is ongoing, and it has recently been designated as an amusement park.

Location and Access

The park is situated next to the Port Connecting Road, Salimpur in Fouzdarhat. It is quite close to the sea coast, and since there are no other large institutes or public areas nearby, the environment is very peaceful. As it is a bit far from the highway, visitors need to walk for a short while unless they have a private vehicle. The park remains open daily from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Entry and Tickets

Entry requires a ticket. The ticket price for adults is 50 BDT, which I find reasonable. Children under five years old do not require a ticket. There is a ticket counter right next to the entry gate, and after payment, a ticket slip is issued via a digital machine.

Features and Natural Beauty

Once inside, you will see a mix of artificial and natural attractions. The park area is vast, featuring two massive lakes surrounded by various rides and other amenities. Due to its proximity to the sea, you can feel the sea breeze throughout the park.

Right after the entry, there are several artificial decorations; I noticed a tree with a large Welcome sign. For those who love photography, there are many beautiful spots. I visited after evening, but the pictures would likely be even brighter during the day.

The roads beside the lakes are very clean. The tall lamplights along the roads made the environment even more attractive in the evening. These brick-paved roads are ideal for jogging and walking, and the flower plants along the sides add a special touch of beauty.

Different Rides

While walking along the road, one can enjoy the beauty of the lake. There are seating arrangements made of bamboo and cane right by the lake. Sitting there with your feet near the water while enjoying the quiet environment makes you feel lost in nature. For tourists, there are several mechanical rides, including:

  • A circular rotating swing.
  • Slides for children.
  • Boat rides on the lake.
  • A zip-line cable ride crossing over the lake.
  • A hand-climbing mountain-style ride etc...

Each ride requires a separate fee, ranging from 50 BDT to 200 BDT.

Facilities and Security

Since this is a family park, it is fully secured with *CCTV cameras to prevent any unethical activities. Warning signboards are placed at various spots. To maintain cleanliness, large dustbins have been placed at regular intervals.

The washrooms are quite clean with separate facilities for men and women. I noticed cleaners working constantly to maintain hygiene. Additionally, there is a beautiful, spacious mosque on the north side of the lake for visitors to offer their prayers.

For those coming from afar, there is a parking area with separate sections for bikes and cars. Since the parking is managed by a private authority, a parking fee is applicable based on the vehicle type and inside there has a large prayer hall facilities.

My Personal Experience

DC Park is a suitable place to spend time with family and friends. The annual flower festival is even featured on national television. Being government-controlled, many official functions are also organized here.

I have visited this park many times. Development is still ongoing to add even more features. I personally love spending my afternoons here with friends. The feeling of peacefully enjoying the environment while sitting by the lake is something truly unique to DC Park.
