Judges 13-16
If I were to ask you today: are you living the victorious life or the defeated life … how would you answer? You say, "Well, it depends on what you mean by victorious and defeated." Fair enough.
OK … to be fair .. let me narrow it down to this: are you living in victory over self? The evangelist D.L. Moody said, "I've had more trouble with D.L. Moody than any man live."
Are you giving you trouble these days? Let me ask you this: are you living in victory over sin? Are you conquering sin or is sin conquering you?
Well .. the last couple of times together from the life of Samson .. we've been learning The Secret to Victorious Living and that secret is living the surrendered life. The way to victory is surrender. That is .. the victorious life begins with the saved life and then grows through the surrendered life.
Every area … everyday .. surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. And when you're not willing to live the surrendered life .. you will fall and fail in the areas where you are the strongest. That's what happened to Samson and if you're not careful .. it will happen to you.
Now beginning in Judges 13 .. here is what we've seen so far.
(1) The DESIRE God had for Samson.
And remember … that the DESIRE God had for Samson is the same desire He has for us: HOLINESS. The desire God has for us is HOLINESS and do you remember why? Because He is holy!
And that word "Holiness" describes a separated life. In Judges 13.5, " .. for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb .." And the word "Nazirite" means "to separate." That's a picture of holiness! Holiness is living separated unto God for His glory and for His use.
And by the way … God chose you for holiness! Ephesians 1.4, "… He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love." You say, "Ernest, I cannot live
