Deny Yourself
Good day for all the Lord Bless you more and more ...
Then Jesus said to his disciples: If anyone wants to come after me, deny himself, take his cross on himself, and follow me; Matthew 16:24
When we talk about denying something, we are led to think that it is something bad, that it does not do us good or that it is not lawful. But who would like to deny what he does "well", and that in addition to everything keeps us in a comfortable situation?
This is the situation that many people live. They do not deny what they find comforting, in order to reach out to those they really need. We see people living below the line of misery, literally, and at the same time, we see so many others that swing in their sweetest sweets. Some with so much, and others with nothing.
When Jesus says: "Denying himself" does not mean that we should leave everything we have and leave everything behind. But yes, we must let go of our pride, our greed, our lack of solidarity and love of neighbor. He says to follow him, and for that fact to become real, we do not have to be angry inside a temple, but we must be a temple of love and humanity.
Jesus preached LIFE, and LIFE in ABUNDANCE! Living as Christ teaches us in his Word means not being individual beings, but people who live as brothers. One defending the other, one helping the other, one loving the other. These gestures make our life have abundance of GRACE and MERCY.
Thus, to deny oneself, and to follow Christ, means the simple fact of not "looking only at our navel", but reminding us that we are surrounded by other people who also long for help, and mainly to know the truth that heals and that save ... JESUS!
