Sometimes God may answer almost immediately, and other times it may take a long time, but the reality is that He is never late to keep His promises.

Our soul waits for the Lord;
He is our help and our shield.
21 Therefore our heart will rejoice in Him,
For we have put our trust in His holy name.
22 May Your lovingkindness, O Lord, be upon us,
According to our hope in You.

Psalm 33:20-22

We know very well that God hears our prayer, and even more, God answers our cry, but on every occasion we must wait. Have you ever wondered why He delays in answering our prayer?
First, we must know that our relationship with God must take priority over any of our earthly affairs. However, our worries can still take the place of God and our attention. We usually cry out to God as a priority, and then, for whatever reason, we look away. God expects us to tune in, to focus on Him, since it would often be detrimental if He gives us what we ask for when we want it.

30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the greatest commandment.

Mark 12:30

God is in control and cares about every detail about us. In certain situations, God stretches the time to allow for the growth and maturity of our faith. One way is by making us wait for His response. During that time, we are sure that His Holy Spirit will work to produce that growth and maturity in us so that we can bear fruit.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

Galatians 5:22

Let us not forget that the delay in God's response to our request may also be because we ask with the wrong motives or simply because sin drives that request, such as asking God for something driven by anger or envy. This delay may be to give us time to repent and return to Him.

3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.

James 4:3

This waiting for God's response undoubtedly requires faith. If we are experiencing a similar situation, let us not lose focus: may the Lord always be with us in EVERYTHING, may our request be in harmony with God's desire for us. Let us always trust that whether the answer is prompt or delayed, it is only for our good and for the glory of God.
