Is there anything that stands in the way of knowing God?

Let us allow God to help us overcome any opposition or obstacle to understanding His good and perfect will.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to present your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.

Romans 12:1

The word of God clearly shows us that God's will is gradual, as it is good, pleasing, and perfect. To live fully, we need not only to discover but also to live in God's plans and desires for us; we need to live in His will day after day.

Why don't we do it? Generally, there are obstacles or impediments that prevent us from discerning God's intentions for us, and these are the following: for example, the desire to be in control. This means that living in a corrupt world, to follow God's plan, we must give up our rights and follow His will. The idea is to allow the Lord to govern our thoughts, our emotions, our decisions, as well as our work, family, and relationships.

And He said to them all, "If anyone wants to come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me."

Luke 9:23

Another issue is our ignorance about God's principles. If we don't study the Word, we are far from the light that can guide us along the path. This light is the Bible, His Word, and this light is what allows us to discover what His plans are for us and thus walk in them.

Your word is a lamp to my feet,
And a light to my path.

Psalm 119:105

Another great obstacle that stands between us and knowing God more is the influence of others. Our environment always has many opinions about what we should do and how we should behave. It even has the ability to tell us how comfortable God wants us to behave. But we must be careful because if we put the opinions of others or their influence first, we will end up blocking the way because as human beings, both we and others are fallible; we must choose God's will and not that of people.

It is important that we surrender ourselves to God's care. Then our self is subjected to God's grace and will, and thus we will live according to His word. To please God, we must not simply please people. Our goal should be to surrender our lives to God and make the Lord the center of our lives.
