This steemit.com we used today, is as a result of series of thoughts by @ned before it came to reality today and we are all enjoying it. Do you think God just threw the name "steemit.com" and said hey! Ned login to steemit.com and tell everyone about it. But God did not and this is why God gave us that creative ability to do something marvelous. I don't think it's a false teaching.
1 John 4:4 (KJV) "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world." The bible says. Jesus has always wanted us to have the pictures of what we want before asking. He has always framed our thoughts with Parables: for instance when he likened the kingdom of God to a Vineyard, landowner, etc.
You can't change a thing without having it well-thought. The mind is as important as the reality, I may not understand why you said we can't control our reality from our minds. Every single thing that is a matter today even your cell phone or Laptop came through a man's mind, that alone for a born-again Christian who knows the word of God.
Miracles come when you renew your mind when you see yourself saved, when you refuse to see a mountain but see it moved. When you change your mind you also change the world.
