Caresses That Are Wonderful

Of the things that I believe, they can transform life, they are caresses. To feel the embrace of the parents, or the kiss of the grandparents, or the touch of the skin with the brothers, friends and partner, turns out to be a determining issue in the human existence. We are beings of contacts, we need to be in constant contact with others. That's why we create groups of friends, so when we say hello and goodbye to the people we love, we hug them, we kiss them, we stroke their hair, etc. Today, I am convinced that there is nothing like the kiss of a mother or the hug of the father. Each one of those things are wonders that make us see that God really acts in us.

It may seem very tiny, I know. It's hard to think that something as small as a caress could be wonderful. However, I believe that there are cases in which a tiny sample of affection can transform life, or at least make it more bearable. I think of the times in which one feels defeated, in which it is difficult to find meaning in life. I think of moments of failure in which we feel bad, in which we feel that what we have done is worthless and that we are frustrated. How healing are usually in those moments of weakness a good hug from the people we love. I think that is where we can understand what I mean when I say that there are caresses that are wonderful.

On this subject, I want to share three points that I believe are fundamental. I think there are at least three things that allow us to understand the power of caresses and why we should understand them as a wonder of God. These points are:

• The healing power of caresses: As I said, a caress can restore us internally. Receiving a gesture of affection in the midst of difficulty can change the way we perceive this situation. It makes us feel at least that we are not alone, that in the struggle of our lives we have people who love us, and that turns out to be, in my way of seeing a great wonder of God that manages to restore us and fill us with strength to get ahead .

• A caress is a sign of God's love: If we ask ourselves about how to feel God's love, I believe that the answer, in part, lies in understanding caresses as gestures that turn out to be instruments of that love. The embrace of the people we love, the hand on our shoulder, a caress on the hair, is enough to understand that God loves us, and that the way to give us his love is through the people we love.

• Caresses that are wonderful: not all caresses have the power to transform us. They depend on the people who give them to us. There are caresses that simply do not tell us anything, that go unnoticed. The invitation is to be able to open ourselves to those that do manage to create in us a movement that drives us to keep fighting, that leads us to believe more and believe better that God is at our side and fills us with his strength.
