STEEMCHURCH: "The dubious" Thomas

Although the evangelist John had appointed him on two occasions, there is no doubt that the above quote is that most brings to mind Thomas. The Apostle, who was not present when Jesus was resurrected first appeared to the other Apostles, refuses to believe that and requires "signs" or "evidence" that confirm you that it is true. For him, still led by pessimism and sorrow that produced you the recent events, the death of his beloved Master seemed more an end to an encounter with the father. Then, eight days later, risen Jesus appears again to the community and wish you peace. And speaking to Thomas, who was on that occasion, yes invites you to believe that he, the risen, is crucified him, that he is not a simple figure of the past, but it is alive and acting among his people.

Faced with such evidence, Thomas understands that the resurrection is the history of Jesus taken up by God and brought to its climax. The "Sir" pression recognizes that condition, as Thomas sees in Jesus the just - ment of the divine project over man and taken by model. Jesus is the presence of God the father, cer-cano, accessible to the man. But this presence, from now on, it's only possible to perceive it in the reality of love of the ecclesial community, in the middle of the Group of believers, transformed by the spirit of the risen. Now, although the attitude of Thomas should not be taken as example of total disbelief, as he really loved Jesus and think that his heart was beating even the hope that everything does not end with his death, yes allows us to return to our reality. These are times in which seems to be, each time with more force, the idea that what cannot be verified by the senses or through scientific methods does not exist, or are mere assumptions, of alienated beings. Thus, the Gospel accounts and the history of the action of the spirit of the risen worldwide, through so-called "witness" of Jesus Christ, would not be more than the invention of some or little relevant experiences to an increasingly secular world, where man is It is marketed as the Center and sense of everything.

But also, there are enough historical evidence of the catastrophic results that carry you to the world coming from human beings aside from a reference to the absolute: wars, massacres, pollution, inequality, crime... Therefore a human life of faith becomes very necessary in our days. Need man live free of prejudice that faith dwarfs, cut the intellectual freedom, decreases the own Manor, remaining capacity of initiative, etc. On the contrary, know God, believe in God and, more specifically, how much has revealed about the men in the person of his son, elevates the believer to a level of humanity that makes it capable of great acts of love and mercy nothing like the world selfishness, that it produces only boredom and emptiness. Only the Holy Spirit makes it possible that human beings can discover the meaning of his existence and tell Jesus: "My Lord and my God".

John 11:25 - 26

Then Jesus said to him:-I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will not die ever. Do you think this?

Mark 16:6

Don't panic - he said-. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He is risen! He's not here. Look at the place where they put it.

John 20:8-9

At that time came also the other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre; and he saw and believed. Until then they had not understood the Scripture, which says that Jesus had to resurrect.

Thomas was an honest skeptic. He was convinced when he saw the evidence which was the risen Christ. There's really no modern comparison. There's nothing wrong with needing evidence to be convinced of the Christian faith. A foundation built on truth is always a better foundation.
