Steemchurch- Forgiveness
What is forgiveness.
Forgiveness is an act of pardoning and waiving a negative desire for punishment. It could also be a voluntary or intentional process by which a person undergoes a change in attitude towards an offense. In the Bible, forgiveness means to let go.
Importance of forgiveness.
Forgiveness is very important in our lives. Forgiveness brings about growth and happiness. If we don't forgive and we hold on to anger, hate and hurt, it hurts us far more than the offender. Forgiveness removes anger and hate and it also help us not to live in the past but in the present.
If we look at the Bible, the word of God says we should learn to forgive others so that God will forgive us. If we look at the parable of the unmerciful servant in the book of Matthew, who was freed of his debt and then saw another who owed him and then imprisoned him. That is not what God wants from us as believers.
Again in Matthew 18:22, Jesus said we should forgive each other "seventy times seven times".
This shows us that we should forgive each other as much as possible.
Forgiveness can also be in the aspect of coming to God in repentance.
God is a merciful God, he will always forgive us if we come genuinely and do not return back to our sins.
So my brethren please let us learn to forgive each other because if we do, our Heavenly Father will also forgive us.
REMAIN BLESSED STEEMIANS!!
A good Christian learns to forgive. God can't forgive us if we would not forgive our neighbours. Nice one Ehima.
If God alone is merciful to us, why can't we forgive others when they offend us.
