FOCAL SCRIPTURE

GENESIS 25:29-34

Once when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open country, famished. Vs 29
He said to Jacob, “Quick, let me have some of that red stew! I’m famished!” (That is why he was also called Edom.[f]) Vs 30
Jacob replied, “First sell me your birthright.” Vs. 31
Look, I am about to die,” Esau said. “What good is the birthright to me?” Vs. 32
But Jacob said, “Swear to me first.” So he swore an oath to him, selling his birthright to Jacob. Vs. 33
Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil stew. He ate and drank, and then got up and left. vs. 34
So Esau despised his birthright.

Most times, we envy people over nothing relevant and despise the good and better status and position God has given to us for a better life. As well as Christians, we reduce our position and grace bestowed upon us by God and sell that position and grace for a little token that does not matter or cannot add anything to our life.

Esau though he was not in the covenant of God but I guess God gave Him the first born position so that he can at least have an inheritance but he sold that position for just a little token.

As Christians, we should learn from Esau and never envy or become jealous of others and despise the position God has place so we can excel above others in life.

Whenever we sell our position or birthright God has given to us for a token, God hates us. God hated Esau for selling his birthright for just a token. Selling your birthright, ability, talents that God has given to you or bestowed upon us to the devil deprives us of god’s blessings and we get God’s wrath upon us.

He sold his position for just a token, he sold his birthright for just a token.

Same as Judah, who sold Jesus out for 30 shekels, his life was miserable because he inquired God’s wrath upon himself.

God hates those who despises the good things given to them and does not appreciate the gifts given to them by God.
Learn to appreciate the place God has given to you and be thankful. Do not sell your position for a token.

As Christians, we are not meant to sell our place of honour for just a porridge or 30 shekels but we are meant to stand up and rise like the children of God we are.

WHAT WAS THEIR END?

Esau lost his blessings (everything that his father wanted handing to him and his birthright).Judah lost his life and also did not end yup using the 30 shekels he got from the Pharisees.

The place God has given us or responsibilities god has placed on us is for a purpose and if we don’t know then essence of it, it is either we sell it like Esau or we don’t make a good use of it.

God wants us as Christians to stand up and take our place and refuse to sell our positions for just a token.

So much interesting!!!
for long period of time, I was asking myself why God hate Easu and I love Jacob. because God does not hate anyone.
but this post brought me a great lesson that can be applied in daily life. we have been trading-off our greatest and valuable thing for nothing; for foolish.
but now i got great lesson. have never learnt in such way the reason why God hate that Esau.
Much much blessings!!!

@abrish, God hates does who trades their valuable things for things that can never get them any where.

Thanks for visiting my post.
