Can Christians Use The Blockchain As A Means To Assemble And Do Good? Why Not!
Had a nice chat with @sirknight the other day, during this chat he introduced me to an idea that he named Steemchurch.
Now, in all honesty, I was a little uncertain about the concept of a “Church” that presents itself as being “on the blockchain”.
Yet during our conversation, he stated:
“A Church is....an assembly of Christians, which is what we are.”
Which is correct.
When we look at the fact that when Saint Peter started spreading the Good News, there were no buildings that resembled what we often think of when we use the word church.
The definition is simple:
noun
1- a building for public Christian worship.
2- public worship of God or a religious service in such a building:
to attend church regularly.
3- (sometimes initial capital letter) the whole body of Christian believers; Christendom.
If we open our minds up to the possibilities out there, to the fact that technology has given us the ability to communicate live on an international level, then we can comprehend the fact that times have changed.
The realm of possibility exists in each of us.
Accepting the idea that the blockchain can as such be a place where people can continue on the work of St. Peter, to spread the Good News, the path of love and forgiveness that he witnessed as one of the 12 Apostles is merely keeping up with the times and technology that we have available to us.
Likewise with this technology come new requirements. As a decentralized blockchain there are roles and responsibilities that need to be fulfilled so as to function as a community.
As our blockchain grows, as the number of Christians active on our blockchain grows it is a very positive idea to introduce the concept of an assembly of Christians on the blockchain.
When I asked about the vision and goals that he envisioned, he sent me a link, and I cite:
'To embrace and promote Christianity on the blockchain by spreading the love of God and celebrating the beauty of his creation, building a supportive community and fighting evil in whatever form it might take.'
We are all human and it is only natural that we as humans can relate to things that we are familiar with. In this case there is nothing unusual about the fact that Christians wish to assemble and share thoughts, ideas and communicate among themselves. It is only human. The fact that Christians have been divided by all sorts of men through the history of mankind is again nothing unusual. Greed, power, glory, all have lead to the division of St Peters Church.
Which makes this idea of an assembly of Christians who are united by the fact that we are all on the blockchain a very noble endeavour. No matter what titles some may take upon themselves through the course of any new endeavour, I shall quote The Good Book:
Acts-Chapter-15
1- And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.
2- When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.
3- And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.
4- And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.
5- But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
6- And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.
7- And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
8- And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
9- And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
10- Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
11- But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
It is an endeavour that I as a believer in the goodness, love, tolerance, forgiveness and generosity of Jesus Christ, The Holy Trinity, one Church and The Seven Sacraments, shall wholeheartedly support and in accordance with the requirements of the blockchain take on the responsibilities and duties that this technology requires of me.
In accordance with my role as a person, blogger, Steemian, Witness and any other responsibility that I Jack Miller may have.
Look forward to doing good and trying to be a better person.
Yours truly
@jackmiller

great work @sirknight
The people are the church! Christ really must prevail everywhere.
@Sirknight did a great thing by starting the trend, we must also do our part in keeping it alive
The team at Community News wish you good luck with your Witness Quest Brother Jack. We reckon it was a good move affiliating yourself with the SteemChurch. Great bunch of people driving this community on to bigger things.
COMMUNITY NEWS
It is always good people that make a real difference!
Good on 'em.
I really agree with your words, one good individual can make the difference, but in this world most of us are moving away from the goodness because the path of goodness is difficult but we have to understand one thing that difficult path will give fruitful results, means if you walk on the path of almighty father while spreading love an kindness, our world will become more beautiful and real and pure life is natural life, and in my opinion simplicity is greatness and less is more. So let's become one who stood with goodness and let's spread love and kindness under the shed of our almighty father. Wishing you an great day. Stay blessed. 🙂
Very well post.... i love this post....

Doing good and promoting goodness can only bring about more good.
Nothing wrong with trying, in fact it is great to see people trying to expand the use of the technology we have available today in ways that we haven't seen to date.
Yeah, creativity everywhere! The blockchain is really doing alot of good
Nice improvement from @sirknight for seeing that an assembling of must not always be in a building because the essence of Christianity is to spread the gospel of God to the world and the world has really improved into technology even bible reading is done on phone or other software platform so why cant Christian unit online with the idea of steemchurch but i hope when it gets popularized,it wont be misused and abused and since ppl can't be taken off the steemchurch so everyone has to speak and write Godly for it to function well and also invite does that need Godly help . So its a nice one though and thanks for sharing sir knight goals with us .
Uniting people who have common goals which revolve around kindness, love, forgiveness is something worthy of support.
One of the things I touched on in this post was exactly what you expressed in your comment, the fear of another "sect" growing out of something that has been started for the most noble of all reasons.
Men have throughout history used and abused everything possible so as to gain more power. The blockchain is decentralized and as such opens many more possibilities to people to do good for others. If we keep that in mind and the fact that blockchain technology as such is yet another tool for us people to use then we can be aware of the evils that lay out there and ensure that this technology be used by people for doing good and good alone.
The idea in itself is not "radical" it is merely in touch with the times and technology that we have at our disposal.
Hence, worthy of all our support, as people who wish to do good for all mankind.
Hurray!!!! The @steemchurch has a witness in @jackmiller..
So glad to see the church growing all round.
We are the church and anywhere we are thats where the church would be, my answer to the question on your topic is a yes, lovely points on your post and u selected the perfect bible verse
Absolutely! A lot of Christians on Steemit doing great things and being upvoted and rewarded by other Christians (@mhm-philippines comes to mind and @papa-pepper too)...
This is good news, thanks for your support @jackmiller, yes steemchurch is a blockchain church but we carry out the true purposes of a church and we are commited to the growth and development of the steemchurch!
