The world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does God's will remains forever (1 John 2: 17)

It's easy to think this world would remain forever. Because life still goes on day in and day out. Nothing seems to change or to suggest that the world is passing away. Scientists even tells us that the world has been in existence for millions of years and they give us evidence through archeological research and others.
What is interesting to note here is that the scientific evidence and findings, such as fossils and others, vindicate what the Bible is saying. Those evidence seem to suggest the passing away of the world (s) that existed then but are no more. All of them have passed away and perished, just fossils to tell us they did existed. The world indeed passes away, with its lusts, people, things and accomplishments.
One indicator that the world is passing away is death. Each day people die. They don't live forever. They die with their lusts, their dreams, their goals, their folly, their wisdom, their glory, their power, their sins and their virtues.
When we come to understand that when God or the Bible speaks of the world, it definitely has reference to the people. Usually, the translation from Greek to English didn't do justice to the words translated as the world, which most of the time have the people in mind.
For example, Jesus told Nicodemus, the Jewish teacher, that "For God so loved the WORLD that He gave us His Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but should have everlasting life (John 3: 16). Jesus here used the word WORLD, but what He was actually referring to is the people, the inhabitants of the earth. God the Father loved the human race, the people of the earth so much that He gave Jesus, the begotten of God, for the redemption and salvation of the human race. Human beings therefore pass away with their lusts and they do so through death. But the Holy Bible assures us that while people passes away through death, only those who do the will of God continues to live forever. They become unsinkable, imperishable, undefeatable. Because they only put away the perishable, their bodies, their flesh, and put on imperishable which enables them to live with God forever and ever.

So as go through life, remember what the Holy Scriptures say, The World (which means the people) with their lusts passes away, but those who do the will of God continue to live forever.
You and I will pass away one day, and that through death. But we can choose to live forever if we consider what the Bible tells and abide with it, by seeking and doing God's will.
May you choose God's will for your life so that you may become unsinkable in Jesus name. Amen
