Then Job answered the Lord and said, "I know that You can do all things and that no purposes of yours can be thwarted (Job 42: 1 -2)

Rabbi from Tarsus, Paul by name, received an incredible vision from Jesus on the Damascus road, that he had been chosen to be a vessel to bring God's redemption message to the whole world. And guess what happened to him?
He receives no glory, honour or affirmation, but opposition. He was arrested, beating, stoned, chained and imprisoned.
The exiled Jews received a promise from the prophet Jeremiah that Jerusalem shall be rebuilt and God's glory shall shine again over the temple. King Cyrus set them free to go up and rebuild the temple and guess what happened to them? Opposition.
Sanballat, Tobias, and the Samaritans opposed them and for 15 years, the purpose of God seemed to have failed.
The truth is, the purposes of God, the promises of God and the will of God are always opposed, says Rabbi Jonathan Cahn. And are opposed always by circumstances, society, governments, people, even people that claims to be for God and also ourselves. And this is not new. It actually began in the Garden of Eden.
God fantastic purpose was to filled man and the creation with His glory, presence, power and blessings. But that purpose was opposed, suppressed, hindered and even blocked by sin, satan, death and the human race themselves. Our own lives are evidence of this. For all of us are born into families, society, culture, environment and a world that are bent on opposing God and His purposes and make them null and void.
But God never leaves things that way. Because He is the God who performs the purposes of God and to fulfil them. Even when it means, He dying Himself to bring life to those purposes and promises for them to be fulfilled. Even when the purposes seem dead, He still is the God who raises the dead and brings about resurrection. Even when the promises have become dry bones and there is no hope for their fulfillment. He is the God who brings the dry bones together and causes breathe to enter them so that they can live again and become a mighty army to fulfil His will, His purpose and His promises.

Indeed, He is the God of a second chance, He is the God of a second covenant, He is the God of a second temple, and He is the God of a second salvation. For our salvation in Christ is a second chance of that of Adam in order to bring about His purposes and promises.
So no matter what is happening to you and to me, be reminded of the Patriarch Job, and his word, that no purposes of God, no promises of God, and no plans of God can be thwarted.
For our God is the God who finishes what He starts. And He is at work in us, and He is with us.
May the God of the second chance, whose we are and whom we serve, resurrect His promises and purposes for your life and embolden you to accomplish them despite the opposition in Jesus name. Amen
