Love intelligently.
In the following passage, Paul asks us to grow in love, but not just in that. He asks us to grow in knowledge and discernment.
This shows us that love is not just a mere momentary emotion or simply good intentions. Love is also wisdom in practice, because truly loving isn't always responding with words, saying yes, or simply avoiding conflict. Love also means setting boundaries, correcting, exhorting, and sometimes simply remaining silent and simply praying.
A love that has grown allows itself to be guided by the Spirit of God, not by the feelings of the moment. Let us always remember that we can grow in love every day. Love is not just about what we feel in that moment. Love understands and also decides wisely. This is a love that builds, guides, and above all, reflects the love of God.
And this I pray for: that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment.
