God bless you my friends.

The prayer for power and knowledge

"For this cause I bend my knees before the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ"

What was that cause? Well, it was because of his deep interest in the Ephesians. He wanted them to enter into that great truth of this new administration, this new economy in which we live, and to experience all the riches of His grace found in Christ Jesus. These were the background.

When I was studying the prayers of the apostle Paul in the first chapter of Ephesians, we called attention to the fact that he was a man of prayer. We also said that we have known him as an apostle, a preacher, a teacher, but not as much as a man of prayer. This is Paul's second great prayer in this epistle. Having considered the church as a poem of God, the temple of the Holy Spirit and the mystery of the centuries, he addressed God in prayer so that these great truths would become realities in the lives of those Christians.

In this verse we have another characteristic of Paul's prayers. Reveal your attitude to prayer. We do not want to be meticulous in this matter, but here is the detail: For this cause I bend my knees before the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. We do not insist that we all kneel at our public prayer meetings. However, it would be a desirable attitude.
On one occasion a prayer meeting was taking place in a village, and the preacher before beginning his message told his congregation: "Let's bow our heads in prayer." Well, those people who were there did much more than bow their heads. The preacher closed his eyes and heard some noise and thought that all the people had risen and left the place. So he tried to open his eyes a little while he was praying, and when he could observe his audience, all he saw were the empty benches and thought that all the people had retired. But, since he was praying before the Lord, he continued his prayer. Then, saying "Amen," he opened his eyes again and could see that all these people had been on their knees, and then stood up. And of course, this preacher could have a magnificent meeting there. Now, we don't want to say that there was a great meeting for the simple reason that people got on their knees, but we do want to say the following: that we think that helped a lot. We believe that we are losing a lot in some circles where formality reigns, where there is an inflexible rite and then we are depriving ourselves of our warm and close relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. We feel that we should have more of that familiarity in worship, and more reverence for God; especially when we are praying.
