RE: What Is The Real Meaning Of The Cross Of Christ!
Very good written @laramrm. In Christianity, the cross is the meeting of God's love and his justice. Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29). The reference of Jesus as the Lamb of God, points to the institution of the Jewish Passover in Exodus 12. The Israelites were commanded to sacrifice a lamb without spot and anoint the blood of the lamb on the lintels and the poles of their houses . The blood would be the signal for the angel of death to "pass over" that house, leaving those covered in blood safe. When Jesus came to John to be baptized, John recognized him and said: "Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29); therefore, John identified Jesus and God's plan for Him to be sacrificed for sin.
